Hi all...page 13 and July hasn't even started yet! Angelnikki, please count me in for £100 for July. Though I do not believe I will make it. Got our Asda delivery (approx. £60) on Saturday and thanks to me buying all kinds of baking ingredients (have never baked properly before), I forgot some of the basic ingredients we use. So we went to the local Asda and bought approximately £16 worth of top up stuff on Saturday (though about £4.50 of that was treats that my husband bought for us and so will not be counted in the grocery budget - unless I have budget left over at the end!). There is absolutely no place in the kitchen to put anything anymore! Saturday is our bulk cooking day but there wasn't enough room in the freezer to put many cooked meals.
Still, I made a veg pie (ok, but the crust was a diet one made of bran and tasted awful and stuck to the dish), meatloaf with turkey mince (quite nice actually), cheesy biscuits (my husband and neighbour love them!) and golden syrup oat cookies (I love them). Plus, OH made chicken curry and egg curry. And we have leftover bulk cooking from last week. So I think we'll go quite a while without needing to cook again!
Still 3/4ths of the budget gone before the month starts - not good.Mortgage (original/ current):193,000 (23/09/11)/ £102,500 (07/11/2019)

I use breadcrumbs when I make meatballs. (Angelnikki’s Chilli & Angelnikki's Meatballs )
You could also use them to coat strips of chicken or fish to make goujons. (Dip the strips in flour then in egg then in bread crumbs, cook in the oven/under the grill for about 20mins turning half way thru the time.)
Or you could put the breadcrumbs with some cheese on top of lasagne/fish pie/pasta bake/etc... to make a nice topping.
Red split lentils can be added to mince dishes to s-t-r-e-t-c-h them further. They dont need to be soaked first but you need to make sure they are cooked for 30-40 mins. You can add oats too.

Oats, lentils and grated courgette can bulk out most mince based meals.Try it.

My lot are the opposite, if i don't slice the loaf before putting it in the bread bin, they can use a loaf up in about 8 slices  :rotfl: .

I cook off a big pan of lentils the cool and dispense into ziploc bags and just bung in frozen straight from freezer,I also grate off a couple of lbs of courgettes and do the same (uncooked in bags )
So realistically I can get and defrost almost all bolognese ingredients from the freezer - mince, passata, lentil, courgettes, poss peppers and mushrooms for a very quick meal or do as most do and make a selection of mince based meals and rotate on your menu - bolognese, lasagna, cannelloni, chili, shep pie.
