Hi, Can I just ask are you a primary school teacher? If so then snap! If you want to rant feel free to pm me as I know what it's like the other side of the fence (teacher's side!)

Anyway, looking forward to the challenge starting tomorrow. Looked at my bank account and it's already well overdrawn and I've just been paid today! Hopefully with this challenge I'll be able to claw my way back into the black in a few months time as most of our money that's left after paying all bills and debts goes on food!

Thanks for all the inspiring recipes and ways people cut back.

Almost snap :D , i start uni in sept, i'll be doing a Primary Ed BA :j .

blimey this thread grows longer every time i'm away from the comp for a couple of hours....can't believe how many are joining us :D

i'm just grabbing 5mins with a cuppa......have been on my feet since 6am  changing beds, washing, ironing, cleaning at my gran's, shopping for her ( i was good i didn't spend a penny of my money :D)and i've just made 4 pizzas and topped them with stuff for my brother. i've put em in the freezer till he can get here for them......what a good sister i am :p

i've just got to wash up now, and then make some tortilla dough for our tea tonight........oooh nearly forgot .........i've just dug all my beetroot up and its now boiling away in a pan, ready to be pickled. and i also pulled a carrot up, and ate it all up ( obviously i washed it first ;)) but it was lovely and sweet.........pity only about 12 have grown :rotfl:

right, that's my sit down, so i'd best get on with things again when i've updated my siggy.only spent £1.19 on 4pints of full cream milk..............and that's nicely watered down to 8 pints, and been whacked in the freezer :D

hope everyone's having a good start to the month xx

I make my own washing stuff too - although I gloop mine up into a gel form :-) Find my clothes are softer and don't have the artificial smell of washing powders

I usually like to see what I'm buying and therefore get out to the shops and pick it up and get my exercise walking around the store,,,,haha,

Good luck it's a fantastic career - well most of the time. If you need any advice or help just yell and I'll be glad to be of any assistance (I've stuck it out for 11 years so can't be doing too badly!:T). I am known at school by parents and children as the 'wicked witch' as apparently I'm very strict but fair, very bossy and don't put up with any nonsense! Not sure if that's a compliment or not?

Seriously, do pm if you need anything. It's a lot of hard work despite people thinking we have a cushy number with all the school holidays. I won't start my rant about all the extra work and hours we put in!!!

Sorry, really went off topic there!

Still haven't tried my breadmaker as I haven't cleared any space for it in the kitchen!

Hmmmm  As this is my first GC I am wondering wether I should buy the bulk of stock cupboard items online (pasta's, cereals, toilet rolls etc.)?
I have never ordered online but my thinking is that it may deter me from impulse buys if I "won't" have to visit Mr T's so I then get my fruit and veg from the grocers and my meat from the butcher?

Any thoughts to help me decide :o Is this what the majority do?
