KAAT what's "the quarterly" for presciptions hon?

I will update sig in a min, spent £11.82 in mr m just odds and bobs, don't think I'll have to spend much now as july ends on the 28th for me. Will declare on mon, but should be in budget still. :j I'm real chuffed as this is my 1st month

I include everything food in or out, toiletries, cards, pressies, laundry, alcohol,:D

Off to update sig, hugs to all, have a good weekend:D

hi there HWGA we used to pay about £25+a quarter but now it has gone up to £30+ for a third of a year you can also pay yearly but I dont know how much that is
its called prescription prepayment certificate have added prices at the bottom
and now DH has found this url

www.dh.gov.uk then enter 'prepayment ' in the search facility

    application form required fp95

If you want to look on here it will tell you all about it

    http://www.dh.gov.uk/en/Healthcare/Medicinespharmacyandindustry/Prescriptions/NHScosts/DH_4049383

    hope this helps

    KAAT

    NHS charges

From 1 April 2008, charges will be:
    Prescription: £7.10
    12-month Prepayment Certificate (PPC): £102.50
    3-month PPC: £27.85

it was better paying this than £7.10 x 12 items ,,,,,,,, £85.20 it would have cost a month

Hi everyone, What a gorgeous day, could get used to this. We actually went out for the day, haven't dared up to now, still being careful with DS2 and his arm. Should be out again tomorrow for a picnic wth Sister and family, due to it being their anniversary.

Added up all the spends for the month and did go over, declaring at £412.01. I know I've gone over, but there were a few offers on that I would've needed next week anyway, these are stored away. We have gone down brands on quite a few things, we cook from scratch for almost all meals, baking quite a lot and take meals to work or on days out, but we can't seem to cut the budget. Not really sure what else to do.
Would like to keep August budget at £400, might not manage this though as we are on holiday for the last week, we are self catering so am thinking it should all be included. Trouble is we all have treats on holiday don't we.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

    Hi All,

Well I did my final shop for the month today at MrT's and spent £50.49 however that is also going to take me into the first week of August as I have planned all meals until next Saturday. It worked in my favour this morning as I earned a 5p of fpetrol voucher and then I got a £1.77 refund as they charged me £1.77 for cinammon whirls whereas I'd bought 3 donuts for £1.

So although I'm over budget by £25, some of that counts towards the start of August. I think I did ok and have been doing far more cooking from scratch which I know in the long run is cheaper, but I just didn't have a lot of things in my store cupboard. I've never done baking before so I've been buying flour and porridge oats and things too. :D

My family don't know what's hit them but at least my 3 year old is enjoying his dinners and DH's IBS seems to have been kept at bay with my shopping/cooking :T

See you all in August :j

I just wanted to pop my head round the corner and say Hi. I've been lurking here for a while and have accumulated a nice word document full of your recipes to try. Twinks Hobnobs were a huge success, indeed my third batch are currently in the oven.

I'm saving my receipts atm so I can work out my starting point. It is going to be horrendous for 2 adults and one small person as living on an island food is extortionate. No Mr T or Mr A here. Indeed a visit to such a place is considered a great day out by me!!! Add a DS who only eats Petits Filous Yoghurt, co-op spaghetti hoops (cold straight out of the tin), tinned pineapple, ham, bread, alpro chocolate soya desserts and crackers. he is autistic and is literally terrified of food. You would need to see it to believe it. Feeding him is not cheap and he no longer qualifies for any benefits. I'm thinking of giving him his own yoghurt allowance and trying to wean it down.

Whilst I ready myself for the truth of how much we spend I've been cooking lots from scratch. My other half had convinced himself I can't cook which is far from the truth as I got a distinction in my pastry cook exam. He just took over the kitchen when he moved in but that novelty has worn off. Time to buckle down and get us healthier whilst saving some money.

God I don't half yack on...... Thank you everyone. This thread is fantastic.

Spent the morning baking, Twinks, Weetabix brownies, iced buns, choc chip cookies, chocolate fudge (from an old kit) for the fundraising this afternoon.

Nice to sit out in the garden for a while as we never sit in ours. Resisted buying loads of stuff I didn't need just because it was fundraising. I think I gave enough in time, but would have put some in at the end if they had needed it but they had got more than the target and some over for general funds.

Chicken curry x3 for dinner, (use paste from the ethnic shop, 1.05 makes 5 pints of sauce when they want the chip shop type or I want to do something easy) I had chicken and tomato sauce with pasta. Saved some iced buns, DS and DD haven't had them before and they loved them.

Relaxing with a glass of wine and the end of cricket, but still got a lot to sort in the kitchen.

Mother needs some shopping before Wednesday (my last day) so I expect to have to spend again, but not too much I hope.

    Zzzzz

    Welcome.
I am fairly new here, a couple of months I think.
I live on an island too, and we have just got Tesco here! (we also have Lidl and the Coop) .
Have fun in the kitchen and good luck with your DS- that sounds a real challenge :o

Can I declare July's budget at £60.07 - its over what I planned - but I 'fell' into Julian Graves when they had their half price sale and have stocked up on dried mushrooms and sundried tomatoes :o . I'm going for £50 in August, which as I'm away for a week I should be able to do (if I resist the urge to stockpile  )

Right - going to do my meal plan now. :D

Good to see you back MrsMc - I do miss Germany sometimes - should be able to deal with my bakery addiction with a week in Austria this month :rotfl: .
