Just a suggestion but I would ring before you go because I bumped into a friend in town last week and she had taken her son to sign on only to be told that he had to sign on by phone first and they would make him an appt then - she was furious as she had paid a fortune to park the car. You don't want to be wasting fuel either!!

That's totally right, you get there and they just send you to a phone booth where you make an appointment and then go home. Then they send you the forms in the post - pathetic isn't it - what a waste of money when you could just make an appointment then and there and collect the forms... save on post and call... Ooooo red tape:mad:

    Evening all

Well I got both loaves of bread made :D .... but it was rising that quick because of the weather i had to banish it into the basement to prove properly  ....its 85 here at the moment... all the windows n doors are open but we have had to give in and fetch the fan down  its either that or turn into a big puddle :p

Have just had roast chicken, roast potatoes and parsnips with steamed carrots.beans n peas from the garden -hubby declared that he could do with a bit less chicken next time  I only used one breast between us :rotfl: so the rest of that chickchick will make quite a few more meals:j

Have spent most of the afternoon x stitching -but did venture into the garden to top up the water for the veggies... spotted that my 1st tomatoes are starting to ripen and my 1st aubergine will be coming off in a few days.. its about 8" so far ..and i have quite a few more under way :T .. Just have to decide what to do with the 1st 1  don't want to drown its flavour so i will have to have a ponder ...

right im back off to the x stitch -have a great evening everyone and hugs to those in need

Went shopping on the way home from work this morning and spent £8.62 on bread milk cheese apples bananas and tomatoes. Also took out £20 cash for DH to try and keep him away from the shops!
Tried to phone him when I got up to say I could go to MrM and get sausage rolls etc from MrM but he wasn't answering.
He came home and had been to MrA having spent £17.72 on stuff for his picnic and £9.49 on tobacco and stuff.
I'll add these to our spends.
We're having carbonnara for tea tonight with the courgettes picked from the garden- it's fab!

    Hi all

You are all doing well this month, good on you all........I wonder if any of you have any ideas on what to do with plums that are on the verge of going , esp with this heat ...I had bought them for my aunt who has gone home now and left them here. I was thinking plum crumble, ( but my children won't eat i) so maybe mixing it in a cake?!? ......... however, if you have any ideas, they will be much appreciated........
    Cheers mr and mrs t

Having sent DH to shop earlier for milk and a few bits I'm declaring this month at £499.69 - JUST scraping in under target!

I shall keep the budget the same for August - so £500 again please angelnikki :-) Thanks!!!

I am happy with this level - I know it is high compared to some, but we can afford it and don't want to necessarily reduce anymore. It includes nappies, toiletries, cleaing stuff, any alcohol, guinea pig food/ bedding too - and any takeaways. This month's spends included 3 takeaways and some snacks out one day too - so I'm pleased. Also have lots of meat in the freezers (free range at the least, organic if I can get it at a good price :-))

It's now school hols and that means my 3 here most of the time and often several others - hitting the baked goods hard - I made 24 Millies cookiesyesterday afternoon. DH & I have had 3 between us and there's only 2 left! Ice lollies going like crazy, too (we've had fab weather the past few days)

Waitrose delivery coming on Tues - managed to only offer shop there and comes to £50.21 before the delivery - so with the £15 off and then any multisaves it shouldn't be too bad at all!

IOIWE - sorry to hear your news - hopefully something will turn up for you
