NSD for me. For anyone who has a lot in the freezer I can highly recommend doing and inventory and sticking it on the fridge. Being able to see what's buried in the depths of the freezers has been a huge help in using stuff up and constructing meals. Going to do the cupboards in time for next month, see what we can liberate from lurking in those dark recesses!Eat food, not edible food-like items. Mostly plants.0

Well nearly finished for the month, I get paid around the 28th. I've certainly spent less this month than I have previously but I think I have missed some of the spending - OH has this habit of nipping out for something and coming back with several things and he doesn't always give me the receipt.
But as I said I think because I have been more conscious of spending and collecting receipts it gives me more of an idea of what we do spend and what the pitfalls are:
a) running out of stuff and then nipping to the shops (only to buy other things)
b) sticking to the meal plan and being more organised
c) knowing what is in the freezer - plan to sort it out after we come back from hols and keep of record of what is in there

I've just made some iced buns OMG they are lovely! Yum Yum Yum Yum!!
Not a good month, way over my budget again! in my defence I don't need much next month cupboards are heaving, I've slowly been stocking up for our hols and the school hols over the last few weeks and need little other than meat and perishables over the next month, have plenty of baking stuff in to keep the hungry horrors fed. Please put me down for £499 for this month (hangs her head in shame again!!) and £350 for August as will be away. Thanks very much.LBM 17th April 2007:j

Thanks to Denise and Nikki for info on declaring budgets. Will do mine next week. Hopefully I will have all NSD's from now until 31st.
Herbaholic - you're not at all sad getting excited about growing veggies. It's lovely to put some seeds in the ground, watch them grow - then munch the results! This is my second year and I feel a lot more confident than last year, and have got a lot more from my small plot as well. Still loads to learn.
Kaat_Lady "My DH only likes plain white HM bread,, no sense of adventure men have they" - could you put sesame seeds in the white bread and maybe oatmeal. Both are so pale in colour he might not notice - just a thought.
After racing backwards and forwards to Reading with the dog today I cooked lasagne for me and GS2 in the afternoon. Made a large quantity of the sauce (Asda veggie mince and puy lentils) and gave some to DD with spaghetti as she didn't have time to wait for the lasagne to cook as had to get back to work. There was some sauce left over so I've frozen this for another meal before the end of the month. Have moussaka in the freezer, enough veggies, canned chickpeas, eggs, various pulses, Quorn fillets etc so should be able to get by until the 1st. When it's so hot it's a hassle having to get the car out, nicer to sit in the garden and keep out of the shops!
Dec GC £100/76.61/16.46/10.19 - £103.26

Morning all,
Am pleased as yesterday was an NSD- just 6 more to go until we start Augs on 31/7  . Today we are eating mince something or other for tea (not sure what yet). Cannot remember who last mentioned freezer inventory but we use one too now, makes it so much easier instead of sitting on my (wet) knees looking through. I keep mine as a word doc and just add and remove as required. I also do my meal plans on excel so easy to copy/paste. Its just my recipes I only have as paper copies!
Anyway, hope everyone has a MS day, might have to make these iced buns I hear everyone talking about. Hopefully will have time as DH on hols and can look after DS a bit too.

Morning guys,
Been up since five but having a bad day so far as hubbies wages not gone in - AGAIN and it seems it's to teach him a lesson coz he didn't put timesheet in until Sunday instead of Saturday (they do wages Mondays anyway)!
   I hate his firm so will be checking stuff out for him today to see if he can change jobs.
Anyway, sorry for rant. AngelNikki, I am declaring July at £342.88 - a massive £82.88 over budget  . I am really upset about this as it's not as though we have been stocking up or anything, the cupboards are bare, but there have been other things thrown in, which all have to come out of the GC, so I am going to break it down a bit I think for August - will let you know as soon as I've worked it out (going to check back to see what we've spent)
Nikki, are we declaring to you and letting Mrs M know August or are you continuing? Hope you don't mind me asking. No matter which way it goes, just want to say thanks for holding the batton so well this month, you've done a great job keeping the GC and recipe list updated for us all :T :T
