That's Mark Harmon - he was in St. Elsewhere. My colleague at work looks just like him though he's never heard of Mark Harmon and doesn't realise what a big compliment I'm paying him. :)

Of course! I used to watch St Elsewhere. Though the final episode was a huge let-down (the whole thing being the imagination of a boy looking in a snow globe )

MacGyver - my DH's favourite too. I always found it laughable - making a microlight with only a Swiss Army Knife and a bin bag. Purleeese :rotfl:

I've never seen this programme, but he looks familiar. Wasn't he on another soap years ago when he was young and handsome? Was it with Heather Locklear?

Just had my last big shop delivered and it came in at £39.44 after the discount. Mind you, they didn't have the leg of lamb I wanted even though I ticked to allow a substitute, and I have returned two items, making the bill £3.99 less once they refund me. This means that I have £39-59 to last to 31st and although I will need to buy a few things when I take MIL to Sainsbury's tomorrow, I should be under budget this month. Not sure how I did it though - keep thinking that I might have made a mistake and forgotton something.

Herbaholic: I too have economy7 (a white meter) with cheaper night time leccie, so I always try to do washing at night and put the bm on then and the dishwasher too. But sometimes if you know the weather is going to be good you just have to take advantage and do it in the day time. I have even been known to get up and do the ironing in the middle of the night when I can't sleep because it's cheaper then!

Can I just say that one of the reasons I think that the thread is so long and it's so difficult to keep up is that some people are not staying on post and seem to combine the gc stuff with other non gc stuff. I know I am sometimes among them and I know that when you have problems to solve it is great to unload here and get everyone's support, but I don't think this is really the place to discuss favourite tv programmes and film stars etc! Sorry if that sounds boring and/or critical - but there are other threads where you can chat to your hearts content. It seems to me that some people have been put off from contributing to this thread since it became more chatty as there are several I have not seen posting for some time. Sorry if I have offended any one - I don't mean to be mean.

Good luck everyone for the end of the month - not far too go now - and hugs for all those of you who are struggling.

    Hi there,
I am a relatively newbie and am still learning what is ok to talk about GC wise- I am presuming spends, offers, NSD's, budgets, recipes, etc are ok ?
I am trying now to post in the morning (with the NSD, meal etc plans) and maybe later on to say how it all went, although I do also reply to some posts asking q's about GC stuff (and sometimes mention the weather lol). I hope this is ok ?
I love this thread but also pop into the discussion board when I want to ramble/chat about non GC related stuff :)
Re the electricity I echo what you say about doing this in the evening if you can but some days its just too good weatherwise not to do the odd day time load (like my sheets yesterday). My excuse not to iron is that its a waste of money lol

PS Can people not PM each other too if they really wanna chat to peeps they know from here, providing both parties are ok with PM'ing of course.

Does that mean we cant talk about friends or family matters or what happened to the DS1 or DD7 or EX SIL what does it mean ,,, just get on post your shopping post your recipes and thats it

how many lines of text can we have

I made my bread in the BM last night and put in sesame and walnuts and toasted it seems to be quite good with nice thick butter and philly.

will do something with my lamb if I can get anyone to give me some advice on how to cook it ,,
will make some twinks later,, the iced buns were ever so nice ,, will probably freeze most of them later

OrkneyStar Your posts are fine cos they are related to the GC but the posts above yours obviously aren't as this isn't a hunk/TV discussion thread.

You can have as many lines of text as you want but it has to be at least vaguely relevant to the grocery challenge please ;) If you're posting about your GC spends and want to mention how your family/friends are then that is fine cos you were gonna post anyway, but just posting a pic is not on (IMO) and filling the thread with stuff that is not useful to others doing this challenge.

does it matter how long thre thread is ,, are we short of space

We are not short of space necessarily but most people are short of time and cant spend all day every day going through all the posts to find the ones that are relevant/useful to them.

Also this is a free forum but someone still needs to pay for the bandwidth & hosting of this site so please be considerate of what Martin :money: has given us and use it appropriately.

Posts with pics of hunks are not on topic and are stopping people getting on who need to reduce their shopping. Not everyone has broadband/ everyday access to the internet and those people really struggle to keep up.

    Hi patent girl

I find that courgettes freeze best if allready made into something.. rather than as an individual veg
I am planning on making pasta sauces, ratatouille etc so i can freeze my extras... ooohhh and not forgetting courgette tea bread which is divine -i posted the recipe somewhere on a grocery challenge -but can post it again if you can't find it ;) ...oh and courgette quiche is yummy too :D
Im having a courgette based pasta sauce tonight to use up the last of the huge one in the fridge that grew whilst i was away

    Morning all

Declaring my 6th NSD in a row today :T ...

I need to make myself a new loaf of super seedy bread today -im down to my last 2".. it has stayed as fresh as when i made it on friday and there is no fat in it  ...very nice it is too..and good for me ;)
Well done on the first part MrsM, I would have been on 6 too if I had not spent £1.16 (minus 50p off) on yog yesterday  . Still back with NSD's starting again today.
Secondly- can you post the super seedy bread recipe - what seeds do you use ? I have been making HM bread although hubby complaining its not big enough so making some in BM today (decided to omit the oil and milk powder and just use flour, yeast, a little salt, sugar for yeast to eat and water).
Many thankyou's and hope you are settling back in ok.
