I had that when the age was 16 for smoking related things, as I was buying a lighter in a petrol station. The fact I had driven my car in and was buying petrol, and she had rung that up didnt seem to register as a problem.

When I asked if she thought I was under 16, and if so why was she selling me petrol she went very red and served me. Lol.
    It would've been 18 for a lighter ;) Always has been x
  • I didn't pay for my provisional licence. Has this changed now?
Yep! You don't pay for your full licence now, I don't know if that used to be the case? x

Does anyone remember gripe water? This was the stuff given to babies to calm them down. It turned out that it contained alcohol - hence the babies going to sleep! There was a reported case of a woman who became an alcoholic by drinking several bottles of this stuff everyday.

My mother used to give me Gripe Water when I was a baby and only found out years later, why I loved the stuff and it had the desired sleep effect!

    Apparently so

I don't see what costs £50 about the admin involved, but even so...

Did you see this one ?
Irrelevant to the thread, but I once got refused non alcoholic beer in a grocery store in the US because it was 0.05%, and I was only 20.

More relevant, I've certainly seen a fair few fake driving licences being used as ID recently. Maybe the Iceland manager had mentionned this to his staff, and that particular cashier was a little bit too OTT. I'd imagine that if you bring this incident to the attention of the manager/head office complaints department they'll have a word with the cashier involved and give you some freebies for your trouble.

D and G can you not get a provisional driving license

Provisional Drivers Licenses are not accepted as Proof of Age. Not sure why as more forms are filled out to get a Provisional than a full one but I know from experience only the pink one will do

You must have been unlucky. I've never had any trouble with my provisional, it's been accepted everywhere I've needed to use it.

The home brew kit was £20 in wilkos.

Can you still buy the tins of stuff and steriliser etc in the stores? My local store doesn't stock homebrew stuff so I ordered my kit from them online for collection. Now they have stopped doing homebrew on the site so I don't have a supply! If some stores still stock them if would be worth a trip elsewhere...

When you get to my age, being asked for Id becomes a compliment ;) it sounds like the cashier was just havin a bad hair day, go in and try again using a different cashier, and see if you get the same reply.
