So pleased that you managed to speak to him and that its made you feel better. Its always nice to know they are enjoying themselves, especially as you say when they've never been so far from home before.
When DD went to Tenerife she'd only been abroad once with my parents when she was 14, so the thought of her going there on her own was scary stuff for me. I'd never have believed she'd have later plucked up the courage to go the other side of the world alone too.
Anyway, agree with Turfy, talk of Christmas and Turkeys is quite scary, although not being in work I'm struggling to know the date these days.

I am glad you have been able to speak to DS1 L. You must be comforted that he is settled in well.
Am very interested in your DS2's Turkeys. Does he buy chicks and fatten them up for Christmas? Do they only take 3 months to grow? Are they hard to keep?
When I was a kid I remember a big shed in the middle of our ponies field that the farmer kept Turkeys in. Us kids weren't allowed to make a lot of noise near the shed as the Turkeys would get upset! The farmer offered me pocket money to help with the plucking but I never had the courage to do it!

The turkeys are bigger than chicks when he gets them, more of very large hen. Touch wood they seem to be easy to keep. They do make funny noises and are not the prettiest of birds.
I have been to the works event in London and we got 2 awards out of 3, so not a bad night. Also out of 700 people I managed to win the raffle. I was out that chair like Usain Bolt, people were being flung left right and centre as I went up to claim my prize. I got 50 quid in M&S vouchers. I was so pleased to win I would've been happy with a fiver!!! After the event we went to a jazz club and then onto a nightclub, it was going well until the boss got chucked out. Us girls decided to call it a night and managed to flag a cab down.
The hotel was....interesting, did remind one of a brothel....each room was themed. They asked us what time we wanted breakfast and we said about 9.30, when we got back at 3.30 (not bad for an old girl) breakfast was already outside our door. It was continental but really! You had to eat it in your room and there was no table. Can't say I'll be rushing back anytime soon.
Left my work buddies at Kings X and then went to my sisters. Went back to bed after a shower as I'd only had a couple of hours sleep. When sis had come home from work we went to a jewellers, I could only press my nose against the glass but it was nice to look at pretty baubles.
We went to the theatre on Friday night and saw The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime. It was brilliant, if you get chance go and see it.
Saturday morning went to see the poppies at the Tower of London, very thought provoking, then to see the Royal Barge from the jubilee celebrations. it looked very gold and shiny but seemed so small.
We had lunch in a Peruvian restaurant, which was very nice then went to Borough market. A very foodie place, one stall just had tomatoes in every shape, size and colour.
After that we hit Oxford Street. I spent my voucher and a wee bit more, I got some new work trousers, 3 tops and a fake leather jacket. Sis got some new very nice suede boots. Had our free coffee and cake in John Lewis and then came home. My pedometer showed 17500 steps!!!
Work has been ok, managed to save the company £13000 on their insurance, yet still only get a 25p pay rise! I will get over it at some point.
Renewed my car insurance, was quoted £233 form existing insurers and then went through quidco and got it for £179. Better in my pocket than theirs.
As a family we have decided to join the gym. Had our induction on Monday night, we went on Wednesday night, aiming to go twice a week. Played badminton on Tuesday and Friday, so am starting to get the exercise in.
Been to the chiropractor as I've been struggling with back and leg ache. She gave me some marvellous gel which worked the opposite of deep heat. The ache in my leg and butt cheek has been like having toothache, just constant. So I decided to smother my back and leg in this gel, thought it was going to drop off, it was so cold it was hot. Anyway it seems to have done the trick.
Had to put a quote together for a new customer. Hope it comes off. VAT return submitted by the skin of our teeth.
DS1 is a bit homesick. He is struggling to find work. At the moment he has got a weeks shepherding and then I'm not sure what he's going to do. Silly sod didn't cancel a standing order so he's been charged. He's going to have to sort it out himself. He has done a bungee jump and looked terrified.
DD1 has passed her theory test much to everyones surprise. Driving test booked for November. She was a bit scary the other day when I was out with her. I keep getting told off for squeaking!!!
DS2 is going on a technical course with his dad, will mean a day off school but he has good attendance so will let him go.
DD2 fancied a trip to London to see her aunt. She has paid for her own tickets and is going in November. She is busy working to get some spending money.
We are all off to Lancashire next weekend. Staying at sil, then on Sunday off to Harper to look round.
Also thinking about getting a puppy but struggling to find the breed that we want. There are a couple of litters due soon.

Hopefully DS1 will find a new job soon...is it summer over there yet will there be a demand for his shearing skills?
If you get a puppy take my advice and don't get a Jack Russell! mine doesn't stop yapping and never does as its told!

Trouble is he doesn't think he's fast enough so its a bit of a vicious circle.
Like Jack Russells but wouldn't have one of my own.
Been addicted to series 3 of Homeland before the new season starts, just got 1 disc left.
OH took DD2 driving she did ok and had to an emergency stop as a woman pulled out in front of her.
Nearly ran a badger over on Friday night as it dived out in front of me. Luckily I missed it.

Been to look at uni with DD1, slight spanner in the works as she hasn't got Biology she'll have to do the foundation. School wouldn't let her do it, even though she got a C at GCSE. Really hate that school.
Been on team building course. Had a great time, beat my boss up the climbing wall, much to his disgust and the team I was in won overall! Also pleased everyone by capsizing twice in lake Kielder.
DD1 and DS2 have been to Young Farmers county ball, they had a good time. DD1 has her driving test coming up in November, fingers crossed for that one.
DD2 has paid for herself to go to London to stay at her aunts and go and do things. She's very excited, sister will meet her at Kings X.
Myself and a friend are going to the Edinburgh Christmas Markets, booked a room. Looking forward to that as never been before. That's at the end of November.
Managed to crack another alloy, not sure where I did it so can't complain or put in a claim.
We have all joined our local gym. I've been going to aquarobics, love it despite my wobbly bits really wobbling.
Still looking for a puppy, thought I'd cracked it the other day but sadly she wasn't the one for us.

DS1 was on a farm with 2000 dairy cows but have heard on the grapevine he may be shearing. Not that he's told us.......communication with parentals is sadly lacking!
