Train Travel: starting short (NOT breaking journey)
Ticket from Winchester to London is £22. Ticket from Bournemouth to London (calling at Winchester) is £7.50 (at certain times). Can I buy the Bournemouth-London ticket but start my journey at Winchester - ie, will the ticket barriers at Winch let me through and, even if they don't, should I still be allowed through by the…

Train annual season ticket loophole?
Hi all, I live in Bramley (Hampshire) and commute daily to London Waterloo by train. I’m about to renew my season ticket and think I’ve discovered a loophole that will save me money. As you would expect, my standard option is to buy an annual ticket from Bramley to London Terminals (Valid only for travel via Basingstoke).…

Pre paid rail tickets-Question.
Hi Could someone answer this please. I'm going to Ludlow in a couple of weeks and its 2 trains there and back. I intend to buy the prepaid tickets as its cheaper but obviously you have to go on the set time trains. If the first train was running late or if it broke down etc which meant you had to catch a later train, would…

Do train fares shoot up two weeks before travel?
I'm travelling from Manchester to London on 30 January and a while ago bought an advance ticket. My plans have now changed and I need to travel earlier in the day (planning to leave Manchester between approximately 8 and 9). I've been having a few problems doing so online and have e-mailed back and forth with the customer…

Kamikaze Cyclists!
Speaking as a coach driver who was picking up from St Pancras International Station last night in London, I am amazed that we don't hear of more cyclists being killed after the astonishing way I witnessed some of them riding last night. They were dangerously weaving in and out of the traffic (most with NO lights on at all)…

HGV blindspots
Here is a repeat of a recent post on a thread about cycling, and my response to the post was ignored. But I think the issue of HGV blindspots is in urgent need of attention. “Whether you're a fan of cyclists or not, I find it ridiculous that HGVs were ever allowed to drive through cities without being able to see all…

camera mount
Does anyone here use a camcorder on their bike? If so how do you mount it? I've just bought a garmin virb in the post-christmas sales. It comes with a limited range of mounts however and I'll need to buy something to mount it. The options seem to be a helmet strap, although it is quite heavy, or to bar mount it. A k-edge…

Low Flying Aircraft Disrupting My Journey.
Why oh why are low flying aircraft allowed to affect my journey around the M25? This problem is especially accute on the stretch near the M4 intersection, with large aircraft overflying the road, darkening the sky and distracting my concentration. Can these aircraft not stop or maintain a holding pattern until such time as…

Virgin Trains - 4 Nectar points for every £1 spent on tickets
Just noticed virgin trains are giving away double nectar points on trips to/from Manchester and London. I think it’s only running for a few more weeks. I can’t add the link, but if you search Virgin Trains and nectar I’m sure it’ll come up. I guess it’s worth checking out since a lot of rail fares went up!

Cycling action camera recommendation
I need to replace my Veho Muvi action camera, which is bloody awful (has sporadic problems with saving files where it sometimes just doesn't, has a far too narrow viewing angle, and in low light conditions is about as useful as Anne Frank's drumkit). I was nearly killed by a numpty driving a Ford Fiesta 'support vehicle'…

Why is being 1 stop out of zone 6 so difficult?
It's so convoluted. Is it cheaper to journey into zone 6 and go from there? Is it cheaper to get a return ticket or use oyster [does oyster upgrade the ticket into a return for you or charge you two singles?] It's horrible with rip-off prices the second you step one stop out of zone 6 and an insanely over complicated…
