Free Gounds For Your Garden from Starbucks
Hi I am not sure if it has been posted here before, but a friend of mine just brought me a bag of used coffee grounds from Starbucks. This is an ideal compliment to your compost hip. The label reads: " ....Coffee grounds are a nutritional additive for your soil. During the Brewing process most of the acidity is removed,…

Blight Free Potatoes
Can anyone recommend a variety of red potatoes that are 'blight free', and don't just have 'high blight resistance'? The variety has to be red, as slugs decimate any white potatoes that I grow.

Tempted to grow my own veg...
OK... there may be another gardening forum here, but please don't move my post! I am asking on old-style because I think it will fit better here. I've been considering planting some vegetables. I'm not really sure why. One main reason is that I think it would be nice to have truly fresh produce. Another is that I think I…

Move rhubarb now?
I've searched the threads for an answer but couldn't find one ... I got an allotment last month and it's taken me ages to get it into shape as it had been very neglected. I didn't find anything worth keeping (except a 'harvest' of 7 carrots ;) ) apart from a rhubarb plant. Now my question is: can I move it? I'd like to…

Question about growing Leeks
I've grown leeks for the second time this year. Unlike last year, some of the leeks are growing flowers (at least that's what I think they are). They are growing from the centre of each leek on a solid stalk that is quite unlike the normal leaves. My question is, should I cut them off or leave them? I don't need them to…

How to save seed from beans
I've searched the forum but can't find an answer - probably too basic a question! How do I save the seed from my runner and french beans. The plants are dying off so I've taken off some of the mature pods. What do I do with them now? Any help greatly appreciated.

Christmas Lily of the Valley-any cheaper, please?
Read about this in Saturday's Guardian, but £18 for 10 'pips' is beyond me(+£4.95 P&P on orders below £65). I'd neither thought nor heard of Lily of the Valley treated this way before - has anyone come across a cheaper source? They would be lovely.…

I suspect I know the answer, however do I need to dig out this concrete to allow the hedge to root properly?…
