The Great British Spring Clean
This came through on one of my feeds this morning, I'm not sure if it should be here or on the charity board, I'll leave that for a bg to decide. "The Great British Spring Clean is a campaign with a simple aim: to bring people across the country together to clear up the litter that blights our towns, villages, countryside…

Returning packaging to supermarkets.
I have tried searching this on here to no avail. Some people are saying that supermarkets have to take back plastic packaging to be recycled. My council (Bolton) cannot recycle most plastic packaging. Any thoughts?

Waste disposals
Hi all, not sure if this is the right place to post this but thought I'd try. I am currently considering getting a waste disposal in my flat as 95% of my waste is food waste, which stinks up the kitchen bin if I don't empty it every few days, and wastes bin bags etc. The only food which goes in are peelings (minimal),…

Old inverter broken; new quote any good?
Hello We had a solar pv system fitted six years ago and the inverter has just failed - a month after the ECIC warranty expired! Anyway, we've just been quoted £4900 to have a solar edge system retrofitted and was wondering if this was any good. We have a 3.76kWp system with 16 Solar BP3235N panels and a not working Aurora…

Technical question regarding inverters
I have 14 Enphase microinverters on the roof. If I isolate the solar system by turning the big switch where the solar cable entering the house connects to the distribution board, does that immediately switch off the microinverters? I am trying to identify possible causes of radio interference and want to eliminate the…

Electricity (grid) meter incorrect
Hi folks, I really seem to be having an issue with my grid meter. I ran some calculations on usage figures after 9 days of solar. I have my own loop energy monitor which I can compare figures against. My old (2011 installed) ace 1000 meter shows my usage has actually increased - despite me not being home most week and my…

Halogen Candle Bulbs
The last of my pack of 4 bayonets has just gone. Meanwhile my "old" bulbs are still going strong. IMHO even though they use 28W as opposed to 40W, they are a very expensive replacement. Any suggestions for dimmable LED standard bayonets? Does the dimmer switch need replacing?

Capping inverter to 3.68kw
Hi folks, I had a 5kw inverter installed last week. I don't have the approvals to feed in more than the 3.68 limit. My question is - how is the 'cap' put in place? I saw the guys installing the system - they took the inverter out the manufacturer's sealed box, mounted it, plugged in - and that's it. I didn't see anything…

Solar Panel Quote
Thinking of Solar Panels, but need to hurry it along as we have scaffolding in place by builders and they're just finishing the job. Also tariff goes down end of December. Considering SP to offset electric usage, underfloor heating and such. How does this look? Total fit and supply charge (minus scaffolding) - £4,620.42 11…

All solar, no wind?
We see really big wind turbines, and solar panels on roof tops, but not many small wind turbines for domestic use. Why is that? What are the output differences? I would love one fastened to the end of my outhouse.

E.on - Changes to FIT T&C
Hi Has anyone else had the email from E.on about changes to the FIT T&C? I've tried to read them, I honestly have, but it's 8 pages of 'small print' type text, two columns per page. I've been fighting a streaming head cold and chest infection and, despite several attempts, just don't have the energy, concentration span or…
