My dd has been working for a few years and is thinking of taking a year out to do a course. As its an unusual course there is no student funding. I have an overpayment of my student loan as I had to drop out due to ill health. Since 2012, student loans were happy to accept a minimum re-payment. Parents income - something to think about
Lets say your child is about to head off to the sort of university where they give out bursarys if you are on a low income, but you have an unexpected pay rise, which costs the child more than you'll get after tax. Why not put a bit more into your pension, thus reducing your taxable income ? :T

Unite Student Halls
Unite are one of the biggest private suppliers of student halls, my daughter stayed in their Bristol / Marketgate hall last year. My one piece of advice to all next years student tenants ( and their parents who are probably paying the deposit ) is; PHOTOGRAPH EVERYTHING when you move in. A year later you will be charged…
