NHS Student Bursary Help

Options
Hi I dont know if anyone can help, but I am having no end of trouble with the NHS bursary amount.

I am from a 2011 cohort so started on diploma which was non means tested, this year i transferred to the degree option so means tested.

I live with my parents, my brother is also in higher education and lives at home too. My parents earn a combined earning of £65000, and I have now been told I will be awarded £0.

Does anyone know if this is correct, I thought I would have been entitled to a small amount? If it is am I still able to claim reimbursement for money i spent on rent for placement accommodation.

Thank you any input would be appreciated (:

The 2011 diploma cohort-was this NHS? if so was it in a profession where NHS Bursaries didn't provide any funding what so ever?
Just wondering because people I know on NHS diploma courses do receive tuition fees, means tested bursary etc. There is also a £1000 non means tested payment to NHS students.
What course are you studying and for how many weeks each year does your course last?

Have you tried the NHS BOSS calculator online?

I imagine that the £0 is about right :(

I am means tested on my partner's wage (NHS course but not nursing therefore standard term weeks -approx 32) and based on an income of approx £45000, i only get a bursary of about £800. Therefore £65000 might well be £0.

It's best to use the online calculator and ask your uni how many weeks you are in attenance. Make sure you take off your parents expenses such as pension contributions when doing your calculation. (relievable expenses, there are more but that is the main one!)

I would double check about the placement costs part, your placement officer at uni can also help ifyou show them your award letter.

Hope this helps. Its really difficult as the bursary people can be really inconsistant and give wrong advice in my experience! Let me know if you need any other help x
