has anyone done an access course through a Scottish college?
just a quick question really - I started my access course through Perth College this week, and it's driving me to frustration! I have a clear path that I want to follow, and a goal at the end of it, but I've spent three days at the college and it's absolute hand-holding - together with all the other "core" subjects that…

Student Finance/Student Loans Company are RUBBISH. Agreed?
I'm on my second year of uni and there was numerous problems in the first year including losing all my details, losing all my evidence, accusing me of being an immigrant even though I'm British with a 100% british family. It seems I am not the only person who has problems with the Student Loans Company. They make every…

To worry about student loans, or not?
Hi! I started a uni course in 2002, which ended in 2005. I received student loans for each year I was there. I've never worked full time since coming out of uni, due to falling pregnant in my last year and having my children straight after leaving. So because I've never earned the amount that's needed, I've never repaid…

Experience of the 12+ anyone?
Hi, I have had 2 sons pass the 11+ exam, but last year my 3rd son failed the 11+. However, his teacher and the staff at the Grammar involved have encouraged him to sit the 12+ in a few months time. He failed by more than 2 marks, which is the limit they set for appeal, so next time I'd like him to be able to comfortably…

Looking for advice and answers on student finance
Hi there, I just joined these forums. I am 21 and starting the first year of my degree course this September. But after some calculations I'm not sure how I'm going to be able to afford it. My loan will be just under £5000. This seems to be the base amount for a London university, as my parents earn somewhere around 70k a…
