Clock change problems
I've had a couple of people tell me that while the clock on their PC is correct, the time shown on their posts on MSE is still wrong. To fix this click on "Quick Links" in the light brown bar on the top of the page where it says welcome and choose "edit options". Check that you have chosen GMT Western Europe, and that you…

How to tell which threads I've read?
Is there any way of knowing which threads I have read previously? This would be particularly useful on the competitions board, so I know which ones I have entered and which I haven't. I use firefox, and there is an option to change the colour of visited links (ie. threads), but using that messes up how the site looks.…

Finding a member
Hope that this is the correct place to post this. A friend of mine joined the forum a few weeks back. He is user: DeanoC. When I have looked at the members list, I cannot see him. Why is this? He sent me a PM and that is the only way I can find him. If I click on his profile, it says that he has been thanked 5 times in 2…

Post count query
I noticed last night that my post count was 600. When I logged on this morning and made a post, it was 598 after the post so I appear to have lost 3 posts? I didn't make any controversial or abusive posts, the last one I made IIRC was in the Home Phones thread which is still showing. Is it just me or has there been a…

Message Board setup?
Has there been a change to this MBs 'setup'? It used to be that when I hovered my mouse pointer over a thread title the contents of the first post in that thread were displayed. (Very useful aid for whether to bother reading more than just the title.) However I noticed yesterday that it doesn't do it anymore, all that I…

Useless search - may be this will help
Will the site developers be looking the latest offering from Google for a decent search facility for this site? http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2006/10/eureka-your-own-search-engine-has.html The current search facility is pants.

thanks button
Can any techie out there explain to me (in simple terms please) why I have no thanks button on any of my posts, just an edit or nothing. (I've only just noticed, not the most observant mse-er). Everyone else seems to have one except me! Am I doing something wrong/not doing something when I post? I'm not a techie, so if…

Developing tools for MSE
I am developing a website that you can add all of your purchases too, so you can keep track of what you have spent, where. This was going to be for my own use, but i can see some people here maybe finding it useful. At the moment the site works, but needs a few guys ironing out etc.. I've thought about a few things i could…

Thanks summary
Apologies if this has been posted before. Is there a way to analyse the 'thanks' you have received? i.e who has thanked you and on what post/thread? TIA.

Internet Explorer 7, Feeds and MSE
Pretty soon just about everyone using Windows will be using Internet Explorer 7 (see threads here or here) You might have noticed a new bit called 'Feeds' in the new Favourite's sidebar. Why not learn about them by making a MoneySavingExpert feed the first one you add :D First go to the Feeds thread (available from the…

Local moneysaving, more threads needed.
I know that it would bulk out the site a bit but could we have the local moneysaving broken down into county/city threads? There are often good local bargains that are of no interest to those further afield. Also I seldom look at the England thread as I tend to find there are bargains in Newcastle that would cost me £150…

shop but don't drop, Grabbit while you can
Are these two areas both required? Most of the time it looks like a post in one could easily belong in the other, or is this just due to people posting in the wrong sections?

I Don't Like Moaning (Much)
You all know how much I love and appreciate this site but it has been frustratingly slow for quite some time now! It's actually getting to a case where I sometimes don't bother posting coz it takes so long! :o I know it's probably gobby sods like me that slow it down but was just wondering whether there is a problem…

Some feedback
Hello, Thank you for the great website, i find it very useful and i visit it at least a few times a week. 2 simple points i want to get acress: 1) The front page is too cluttered. too much writing everywhere and too many links. I think it's time you redesign your website to a more modern clutter free design. 2) I watch the…
