Vanguard order completed but not showing?
Thought I'd check on here before contacting Vanguard. Placed my first investment order last week for my S&S ISA, relatively small in monetary terms just to familiarise myself with the process. Since placing the order, I had a 'you have pending orders' message on my portal overview screen. The order has been completed…

Hi, My child turned 18 and now lives abroad (Sweden). When she turned 18 she was given an option to either have her CTF transferred to her UK bank account or receive a cheque. She did not have a UK bank account and was informed the CTF could NOT be transferred to her Swedish bank account so a cheque was posted to her in…

Company Stocks Force Sold on Maturity?
I worked for a company between 2008 and 2013 and took part in a matched contribution stock ownership programme. I wasn't really wise with money back then and it was all in German (literally, I worked in Germany), so I never really understood the details. Just it was a good deal according to my colleagues so I signed up. I…

Is there is an element to this for income dividend paying ETFs (Ireland based) , as opposed to accumulating ones outside a tax wrapper? I have to do a self assessment for the first time and can't find a clear explanation.

Sell a flat and invest the proceeds
Hi, I have a flat worth £250k that I bought 24 years ago for £51k to live in. After 4 years I inherited a two bed flat so moved there and let the one bed. After letting it pretty solidly for 20 years I'm wondering about selling up and investing through a fund manager. Rental potential is £1100 per month tops. Wealth…

Investing for future - thoughts?
Hi I’m a 40 yr old teacher, uk, and have just set up a vanguard s+s ISA and a vanguard SIPP. My thinking is this - although the teacher pension is good, it’s significantly reduced if you retire early. I would like the option to retire early. The SIPP (retirement fund 70/30) is to tide me over a 10 yr period until state…

Surely there's a time to call it a day?
I will preface the following by saying I obviously do not know the personal circumstances of those involved. Maybe they have a financial requirement to keep investing. Was watching a tv prog a week or so ago about people getting scammed by bogus investment opportunities featured on social media, cold calling or junk mail.…

Advice - New Company set up to avoid buying out an investor
I'm not really sure where to go with this one so i'll try and keep it brief initially. My knowledge on companies, shares and ownership is limited, so forgive any incorrect terms. My Late Grandmother was a investor and director of an engineering company (XXX Engineering) back in the 1970's and retained a 30% share of the…

Tax returns & Bitcoin
Does anyone know, or have any experience of whether you need to put Bitcoin losses/gains on a self assessment tax return? This tax year (20/21) I've sold £8385, and then bought £2605. I'm guessing that previous years won't be on the tax return.

Am I on the right site?
I want to open a S&S ISA with AJ Bell, but how do I know for sure I'm on the genuine site? I've listened to too many scare stories about cloned websites! It's youinvest.co.uk, secure padlock at the start, company number shows it's been registered for 20 years. Is that enough "proof" or should I be checking other things?
