Hi,
I’ve been thinking about putting some money into shares for ages and wanted some advice please.
I’m not looking to wheel and deal, just want to put money into a fund that doesn’t need anything doing. I don’t mind if it’s FTSE, NASDAQ, whole world or any other option.
What’s the cheapest way to get set up with the lowest fees?
Any tips on where might be best to plonk my money?
Thanks in advance!
Mark

1. Have an emergency fund.
2. Make sure you have your pension sorted out.
3. Use a SIPP or a stocks and shares ISA.
5. Invest for at least 10 years or longer. If you think you need the money within 5 years, stick to a savings account.
6. Watch this https://www.kroijer.com/
7 As a first investment consider a cheap Global Multi Asset Fund at a share/bond split you are comfortable with. This will provide you with a ready made portfolio. There are many such funds. Look here:-

A stocks and shares ISA is just a tax rapper, within which you can hold the investment of your choice. Platforms do not hold all funds you maybe interested in. So first decide on your fund, then look for a platform that carries that fund.
Example 1. The Vanguard Life Stratergy Fund (VLS) can be held on many platforms. The cheapest is likely to be Vanguards own platform.

Example 2. Another fund you should find on a number of platforms is HSBC Global Stratergy Fund

I think you can sign up to T212 again. They don't have any platform charges and offer both VWRP Vanguard FTSE All World UCITS ETF and HMWO HSBC MSCI World UCITS ETF. That is probably two of the cheapest all world equity ETFs you will find out there.

Its not just the management charges of the funds, but the platform costs/fund availability you need to consider.
