Unilever shares
Has anyone opinions on the Unilever share price lately. It has dropped over 10% in the last couple of weeks from about 4400 to 3980. I know they have just published their revenue figures and fell a bit short of their forecast but it didnt appear to be a complete disaster. I always thought of them as a solid company - as…

Long term fund suggestions
I've just shifted £18K to Fidelity to fund a JISA for each of my kids. They can't touch it for 13 years and I'm hoping it will stay there much longer (until they need a house deposit). I want to be totally hands-off. HSBC Global Strategy and the Vanguard equivalent are always recommended but does that advice stand for a 20…

Hargreaves Lansdown Active Savings
Just wondering if it's actually possible to access this account after opening it? I've had emails and letters from them, including an email telling me I have a Secure Message waiting for me in my account, but I'm completely unable to log in. It recognises my username and date of birth, then says I need to provide a phone…

Hargreaves and Lansdown and negative interest rates
Hargreaves and Lansdown email today: "If you’re worried about the potential impact of negative rates on your savings, and you have enough set aside in an easily accessible account for emergencies, you could consider fixed rate products for some of your cash." I think that H&L is intimating that it may start charging…

Halifax Share Dealing Service
I've been buying a small amount of shares each month since the year dot, but now Halifax have emailed to say they're going to start charging me £30 a year for the privilege on top of their commission. This got me looking again at their Ts and Cs, and it appears my only two choices are to ask them to sell the shares and…

Twenty five year old with £30k inheritance
So my dad left an investment for my son, long story short he has finished uni, has a rubbish job, and is trying to get a career/Propper job. He wants to save the money for when he has a decent income and use it as a house deposit. Probably minimum of 24months away, maybe longer. Suggestions on what he should do?

Locking away £70k as lump sum for child till 21
Hi As executor of a will I have been directed to put £70,000 aside for a 10 year old into an account that they cannot access till they are 21. What are my options here as this lump sum far exceeds the allowances for a JISA etc. (I am family but not the parent of this child) Thanks in advance

Recommendations for Investment ISA companies
Hi all, Can someone recommend companies I can use to invest in Index funds please? I have found a few online but it seems their charges are pretty high. I have heard of passively managed index funds that charge less because they are run by AI ? I have been recommended the M1: The finance super app but that's not available…

What’s your most unusual savings technique?
Do you have an unusual savings technique where you use one factor to determine how much you put aside for something completely unrelated? Bear with me … this is a bit geeky. With my banking app, every time it rains 🌧, I put aside money for my next haircut 💇♂️. Now there’s no connection between the weather and how often I…

Aphria stock anyone?
Wondering if anyone here holds Canadian cannabis stock Aphria. I bought it a few years ago and have watched in dismay as it plummeted. However, on the back of stronger than expected results, a forthcoming merger with Tilray and the growing likelihood of further legalisation in US that it can capitalise on, the stock has…

Premium Bond Cash In - Does it have to be oldest first?
I was just about cash in some of my premium bonds - they indicate that they'll cash my oldest bonds first. I'm a bit upset, because these were bought for me when I was born by my grandfather. They only amount to a few pounds, but I've had them all my life and have even won a few prizes with them. Is there a way of choosing…

Multiple ISA's and exceeding 20k
Just wondering what would happen in this scenario? I have three separate ISA's. H2B (£2400) SAS LISA (£4000) and SAS ISA (£13600) That's 20k in total, my whole yearly allowance. Say my SAS options do well and I'm suddenly up say £800 and I'm now over the ISA threshold does that £800 get taxed. I think by default that would…

I am looking to make a single share purchase in a USA Company. The shares are priced in US$ and cost will be about 2500 US$.
