Virgin Current Account
I've recently tried, and failed, to apply for and open a Virgin Current account (interested in taking advantage of the 2% interest on balances up to £1000). I'm a Clydesdale Bank customer (mortgage), so when I get to the point where they ask me if I 'already bank with them', I enter my details and a message appears telling…

Any Airbnb takers???
Curious as to whether any growth investors have taken the plunge on Airbnb IPO? From what I gather shares stand at around $68, which is not only considerably higher than the figures suggested only a week ago but also seems a bit excessive given the company has yet to turn a profit. I'm always open to new investment ideas…

How much of your savings do you invest?
For many years I had all my savings sitting on a typical savings account at an amazing interest rate of 0.01% until I decided to change that and make my money grow. After having changed my mind, I have always kept £10k in a savings account ready for emergencies and invested the rest (£70k) in funds. Recently I have started…

Chip - Is this company FCA regulated and safe to use for savings?
Hi all Yesterday I opened a Chip+1 saving account following the MSE email on Tuesday night (08/12/20) which notified of the code to allow you to open an account and get 1.25% interest. The account opened fine, but when I tried to deposit £5k it got blocked twice by verified by visa and then again by the Nationwide fraud…

Best way to protect £50,000 - convert to Euros pre-Brexit?
So, I have about £50,000 sitting idly in a Halifax savings account with a wonderful 0.01% interest rate. I may well need to dip in and out of it at short notice so haven't gone for any of the rather desultory rate fixed savings accounts. I'm very mindful that Brexit will hit the pound very hard. Would I just be best off…

Is £85000 saVing safe?
I have £86000 saved in a bank account earning interest. If the bank goes under will £85000 still be protected and I would only lose £1000? Or would I lose the whole £86000 because it’s over the guarantee limit?

Ford Money Flexible Saver rate reduction
I received an email advising me that my Ford Money Flexible Saver rate is reducing from 0.75% to 0.50% on 8 February 2021. My surplus cash is in Coventry and Skipton instant access accounts currently paying 1.20% but I am not expecting these rates to last for much longer.

Ethical equivalent of Vanguard LifeStrategy
Hi, I am quite new to investing. I currently have about £10k in Vanguard Lifestrategy 60 and 80 but am keen to switch to an SRI / ESG equivalent (mainly wish to avoid "sin stocks"). I am keen on a low cost multiasset fund and am not really confident enough to choose a mix of funds and bonds, but also not keen on the high…
