Virgin Current Account

I've recently tried, and failed, to apply for and open a Virgin Current account (interested in taking advantage of the 2% interest on balances up to £1000).
I'm a Clydesdale Bank customer (mortgage), so when I get to the point where they ask me if I 'already bank with them', I enter my details and a message appears telling me they've sent me a passcode in the post, which I'm supposed to enter, to continue/complete the application. Nothing has arrived in the post. And I've tried again, and nothing. I've also tried ringing them, to be placed on hold for approx half an hour in total, and passed around to 3 different departments (whilst on hold waiting to speak to the 3rd, I got cut off). Has anyone else had issues applying to open one of these accounts, if already an existing customer?
