Impartial Financial (property related) advice
I moved abroad around 4.5 years ago and have just bought an apartment off plan. In order to do so, I extended my mortgage in London so that it is roughly 52% of the apartment's current value. I have taken a 25 year mortgage and the rental income is just about paying the monthly instalments. The mortgage is fairly large.…

ACN is a scam right?
I've been told about ACN (acneuro.co.uk) which sells products which seem poor value such as a £9.90 SIMO contract for a year that only gives you 400 mkns, 400 texts and 400mb! I'm right in saying no to this MLM (Pyramid scheme inspired) thing that wants £390 upfront! Aren't I?

Mortgage or share returns
I hope my question can be answered with a simple 'yes' or 'no because...'! I think I know the answer but... A BTL mortgage is £100,000 at 4% interest - £4,000 p.a. Assume that a stocks and shares tracker returns a long term average 6% growth. Assuming all income is taxed at 20% and no ISA, pension or tax free allowances…

Pending, Dealt, Settlement
Despite the user friendly nature of some of the online broker sites the process underneath seems very sluggish and antiquated. When I purchase something I like to have it there and then not 4/5 days time (in some cases longer). I realise in the long run such figures are irrelevant but they certainly impact upon my monthly…

Tax relief for invesments from "connected persons"
Hey all, I am in the process of fundraising for an early stage start-up company. My father is interested in investing a small amount but I understand that as he is defined as a "connected person" he is not eligible for the SEIS/EIS tax relief schemes unlike other third party investors (I own well over the 30% threshold).…

Hi I am looking to put aside about £250 a month and am in the position to tie this money up long-term so was thinking a good option would be to invest it, possibly in a fund? Portfolio Comments Welcomed
This is my first post so please be gentle with me! My husband (61) and I (56) stopped work earlier this year and we have a sum of money to invest to supplement our pensions (which we are not yet drawing) and hopefully grow some capital. Originally we planned to (cash) buy a property to let, but have decided to invest our…
