What is a Bond??
I am looking for somewhere to invest savings of £85000. I have looked at the Post Office Online Fixed Bonds. I have always associated Bonds with investments - so just need some confirmation that these PO Bonds are just savings accounts and there is no risk to my initial deposit. Can anyone advise please? Many thanks.

I realise this is not enough, but plan to sell my house and with the equity I will buy the new house and I would like an income from the remaining equity of around £60k. Where would be the best place to put it? I also have my…

Very basic Stock ISA Question
Hi, I'm just getting into buying stocks and have an extremely basic ISA question. As I understand I can invest approximately £10k in shares and put it into an ISA wrapper, and those 10k worth of shares will be free of capital gains tax? Therefore once I have filled up the 10k of shares into that ISA it doesn't matter where…

Vodafone shareholder cash return
I got few Vodafone shares. I had hoped the cash return from Verizon sale was a cash dividend back to shareholders. But since the sale news share price has really only changed from 190p to stabilise around 210p. Has the 112p return still to be factored in? After reading HL summary of the new deal for shareholders, can…

I had s/s isa`s with Hargreaves Lansdown to the value of 70k. We are putting the house on the market and will need this money at a guess in about 6 months time depending how quick the move takes. I cashed these in about 3 months ago to be on the safe side, the money is now sitting in a s/s umbrella account as cash earning…

Offset mortgage - how should I take better advantage?
Dear All, I have an offset mortgage pegged at Bank of England base +0.75% so am currently enjoying an interest rate of 1.25%. I can borrow £200k+ as an overdraft and still have 10 years+ left on the mortgage at this rate, although I recognise it unlikely to stay that low forever... I'm trying to think what I could do to…

Barclays Rights Issue
I read today that existing shareholders will be offered a chance to buy new shares at a rate of 185pence, for one share in every four you currently own in this issue. I currently have 500 shares which I purchased when they were 52pence back in 2008. I will therefore be offered 125 shares in the new issue at the 185p rate.…
