Ways to Maximise Interest on Savings?
Hi everyone I'm sorry if the answer to this question is already within the forums, but I've spent the last two days reading threads and come up with nothing solid. I'm looking for the best way to earn maximum interest on the £40K my BF and I intend to save p/a. We don't have a lump sum, but would be looking at putting away…

Capital Gains Tax on Shares and CFDs
Hi All, I've invested in some shares within a share ISA but was wondering how the tax system generally works in relation to gains on share value and CFDs, so would appreciate some advice. I've never filled a tax return in my life as this has always been done by my employers. If, for example, I buy 20K of shares (not…

childrens 6% not 6%?
Went into halifax today to open their 6% childrens regular saver for the newest addition. I was told by their adviser that its only 6% per addition each month so at the end of the year it actually works out as 3% which is exactly what their easy access childrens saver is. Anyone else been told this? As I would have thought…

Advice on savings and mortgage and loan
Hi, I was after some advice/opinion. I have a mortgage at 2.5% with £137k left. I am currently overpaying by £200 a month with no penalties. I think the house is worth less than we bought it - so we probably have 5% paid off. I also have a RBS expert managed solution (whatever that is - some sort of ISA) worth about 18k. I…

What income can I expect from £1m+?
Hi I hope this is the right place to ask. I have saved regularly in PEPS and SIPPS and also invested in some BTL properties. I am self employed so will not get any occupational pensions. I may be able to save some more but not very big amounts. When I retire in a few years I will have to live off the income my investments…

do any savings accounts allow outgoing standing orders?
hi everyone  just opened a first direct regular saver which you pay into every month, but I keep the majority of my money in a Halifax savings account until I need it (as I get more interest this way) and there doesn't seem to be an option to have a standing order into my First Direct account, or even my Halifax…

Certificated shares
I am looking to buy some shares in an investment trust. Trouble is I like to have a certificate and it seems incredibly expensive to buy shares this way. I always used to buy shares through Lloyds TSB, but they appear to have stopped their share dealing service. I don't do many share trades - probably not even one per…

Lloyds cash ISA Brittania
I transferred my ISA last year from Barclays Golden (first Issue) to Lloyds Cash ISA. My Barclays was giving me 2.23% and would now be dropping to 1.79% in November2013. When I did the transfer I was not told the Lloyds included a bonus. Lloyds has been paying me 2.35%, I only found out about the bonus ending when I got…
