Help needed. Travelling Retiree
Hello. I'm travelling until next March. I need to open a bank account entirely online. My vantage accounts are now full. I don't want to leave surplus money in my First Direct c/a which pays no interest. I already pay into the 8% FD account. Is there anything you could suggest please?

Alternative to iii
Hi all, I have been a user of iii now for the past few years and recently they have brought in a required £20 a month per quarter fee for "trade commission". I do not make trades regularly enough for this payment and just want to leave investments I have made to grow. Are there any decent alternatives that only charge for…

Online account
Hi MS experts. I'm looking for online access Cash ISA & savings accounts. 1yr fix is my normal preference and I'd like to add to it throughout the year i.e. not within the first 30 days etc. Anyone any recommendations? All the best ones I see on MSE are branch or phone only. Cheers

Research, background etc...
Hi all, So for the past few years I have dipped my toe in the stock market, learned a few things, burned a few times, but also made some money a few times. One thing I have learned, as you know, is always do your own research. I was just wondering what methods people use for research, for instance the BoD's have profiles…

Online broker / platform - decisions decisions!?
I've been following the posts on this forum for some time now and have decided to stop lurking and register. Hi all! Question I have is not so much "recommend a broker / platform" (as I've special_saver2's thread) but more "what are people's experiences" with various platforms? Ideally what I'd like to do is have one…

ETF and S&S ISAs
Hi all, I have a S&S ISA with Sippdeal and have 2 queries that perhaps someone could answer: - How are the fees paid on an ETF? Are they removed from the divdends? - Can I transfer shares/funds from one S&S ISA fund to another? Or do I have to sell the shares to transfer?

Drip feeding index trackers.
I'm interested in drip feeding an index tracker. Either US or UK, or perhaps even emerging markets. Thinking of about £150 - £ 200 per month. Any ideas one what I should be looking for? Don't want to get hit too hard on fees etc. Also, can I wrap up such an investment within my yearly isa allowance? Any thoughts on…

Bundled/unbundled charging
I'm confused over unbundled charging and where the advantage lies. Say you have 5 funds each 20k for a total of 100k in Cofunds via Cavendish. In the bundled you get 0.5%, £500 back a year from Cavendish from the trail commision, but it costs you 0.25% or approx £50 per fund if you want to switch. The unbundled costs £40 a…

Tesco Internet Saver
Hoorah! Tesco sent me a letter saying I will get a bonus of 0.65% for another 12 months on my Internet Saver account making a WHOPPING 1.9% gross! After 20% tax that's a MASSIVE 1.5%. With the current inflation rate of 2.7% that means my money will only drop in value by 1.2% each year!!! Before I went out on the town to…

A dabble on the market
I'm tempted into the world of Spead betting (IG Index et. al) but am fairly new to this, whilst I understand the principles and the markets to a degree, i'm not really clear about the charging structure in place. Does anyone out there have any sage advice? Thanks, Mr. O

last share you sold?
there's a thread for the last share you bought, so ... bellway. bought in 2000. very good return, but would have been better if sold in 2007. carpetright. bought mostly in 1998. now sold half. ok return, but would have been much better in 2007. p.s. it doesn't have to be shares you bought before this site existed :)

Interest Received - could someone please double check?
Hi, Just wondered if someone would be so good as to double check the amount of interest that I've received on my Santander First Home Saver account. Interest rate is 5% gross, and has been for the whole year, but I'm a taxpayer. Interest last paid 07/10/11 - took balance to 8866.24. Monthly payments into the account shown…
