Gold and sovereigns.?

Not sure if this is the right section but will try as its technically investments

My son will be 21 soon and thought of maybe getting him a sovereign of the year of his birth but I have absolutely no idea where to look for genuine ones

The Internet is riddled with sites but how do I find a reputable one that is competitive?

Try ATS by the Savoy. Used to be Spinks.

At the risk of being accused of spamming, I have dealt sovereigns with these people at their Blackpool shop and found them OK http://www.goldsovereigns.co.uk/information.html
But I cannot say they are the best because I have never dealt sovereigns with anyone else.

I know nothing of them but notice they are totally open in making clear exactly who they are, their address and banking details, see http://www.goldsovereigns.co.uk/aboutchard.html.

Which is in complete contrast to whoever is behind "Sovereign Investments" and goes to some lengths to conceal his identity and contact details including describing himself as a "non-trading individual" to avoid giving his address in the domain name registration details.
  • I remember kids in my college wore them as rings, I had no idea they were almost pure gold and used as real money at the time

Ive not heard of being able to name a year, Im sure it can be done but may take either alot of searching and asking inventories of various shops

The ones I have are victorian, I think most are ? Not sure if someone can say the production levels for each year, might give a clue of the potential success or worth of a various year

I have also dealt with Chard in Blackpool and have experienced no problems with their quality or service. I ordered some specific dates and sent funds by bank transfer; the sovereigns arrived by insured courier within about 3 days and I was very satisfied that the condition I received matched their description on the website.

So my post has been moderated to remove the link to the gold dealer I use. Seems reasonable as they have to control spamming, and warn people about gold. Gold prices are a hugely inflated bubble - nobody knows if or when the bubble will burst.

Its not your link. Someone has set up an incorrect filter and the word investment-s (without dash) is being filtered as a swear word. I have let the board admin know.
