Hi all,
So for the past few years I have dipped my toe in the stock market, learned a few things, burned a few times, but also made some money a few times.
One thing I have learned, as you know, is always do your own research.
I was just wondering what methods people use for research, for instance the BoD's have profiles on company websites and in presentational materials for potential investors to read. How do you go about about confirming the validity of these profiles and work history etc, just so you can be that little bit more sure that you have a BoD truly looking out for the best interests of your investment and not just their own pocket.
Tops, websites, databases etc. Would love to hear peoples methods. My methods at the moment are basically nothing, I just Google the people on the board and don's feel I learn much more I am honest.
Thanks.
Ben

Theres plenty of sites with company results going back 5 years or more...most give broker forecasts for the next two financial years.
With this kind of basic information you can see if the company you're interested in has a steady flow of profits and a rising dividend.
The chart of the shareprice can give you an idea of a rising or falling trend.
For example Tesco..

Another good UK site is Digital Look. Plenty of free stuff on there that is very useful, premium parts will cost a subscription though.
Good luck with your research0
