What to do with ISA after Interest Has Been Paid?
Hi Everyone! My Santander ISA's interest was paid on 2/3/12. I know that it is not wise to leave the money in the ISA once the interest is paid so I would like some advice on where to put the money now. Ordinarily I would transfer it to a new ISA for the new year but I am saving the money for a deposit for a house and will…

Best place for Euro savings...offshore?
I'm an Irish Ex-pat living in the UK for the past 3 years. My life savings were at home in a nice interest earning Savings account with An Post (Post office). Over Christmas my brother (who works in the banking business) was suggesting that with the recession, bailouts and whole Greek situation there was a risk of the Euro…

So I want to open Halifax's Isa online saver, at 3%, and pay in £300 a month to it. If a open it now, does that mean I wouldn't be able to put any money in it after 5th april? Or can I open it now, and just not go over the allowances allowed for 11/12 and 12/13... Also would the rate drop on 5th april, or is the rate for…

CGT or income tax on share dealing profits
I have a "friend" who is non-employed and doesn't claim any benefits what so ever but purely lives on his share dealing investments. He knows all about cgt, isa's and annual allowances and does in fact pay quite a bit each year in cgt. His question is at what point would the HMRC deem that the share dealing could be called…

Your thoughts on this fund portfolio please
We were visited by my wife's IFA last week. He is proposing consolidating her pot of ISA funds, and indeed her pensions and non-ISA funds into the following 12 funds. Selected by the firms investment committee. She is a medium risk investor and has other assets so won't need to access this money (all things being equal)…

What is the best way to sell a Krugerrand?
Hi, Was given a 1oz krugerrand many years ago (18th or 21st I think) and have thought about selling it as the price of gold seems to be high. Is this the right time (as it just sits in the safe at the bank) and I can't say I need the cash, but it also seems silly for it to just sit there If a good time to sell how would…

US withholding tax
Hi I am UK citizen living in Dubai working for a US company. I have been buying US shares as part of a share-purchase scheme. I am right in thinking that if I fill in for W-8BEN I will not have to pay US tax on any gain I make if I sell the shares? Does this exemption work when you are not living in a 'treaty' country? (ie…
