He starts telling us at this time of year but is it better to transfer before the end or March or at the beginning of the new tax year? Also, do you close the accounts you have…

PO Inflation linked bond - Anyone taken/taking the plunge?
I've been weighing up the pros and cons. I was only going to put a little bit away. I guess 5 years is a long time and alot can happen in that time. If you ignore April 2009, the last time RPI was below 4.2% in any April was 2006. So why should anyone believe that RPI will fall over the next 2-5years?

Calculating Monthly Inflation
I can't find a more suitable forum so here goes. I use the figures provided by HMG to determine the effect of inflation over a 12 month period. I'm having difficulty doing the same same thing on a monthly basis. By way of example I use RPIX which for the year ended Dec 2010 was 4.8% and can easily calculate how much…

Cadbury/Kraft share question
Hopefully someone can help. My sister purchased 1 share in Cadbury for my 40th birthday. The actual share is worth about a 10th of what she paid. As I eat a lot of Cadburys choc, she thought it an ideal gift. My share is obviously now a Kraft share and I have received a curious letter today from a company called Georgeson…

ING Direct - The dutch deposit scheme
Hi, Apologies if this question has already been answered elsewhere, I've just grouped all of my savings into an ING direct savings account. I already have a 1 year fixed rate ISA with Nationwide that matures on 5th April. I popped into a branch today to try and snap up the E-ISA at 2.9% for 2011/12. Basically all I wanted to do was make the arrangement so the current ISA transfers to the new one when the current one matures. I did also want to set up the…

Getting information
Hi, I am due to get a lump sum of money in about a year and will be looking at putting it in all sorts of different pots ie cash ISA, savings accounts for short term quick access, premium bonds and so on. I like the idea of buying and selling shares with some of it but don't know where to start. A S&S ISA is obviously a…
