LLoyds TSB Vantage loophole
Open as many as you like. There does not seem to be any information on this site about the LLoyds tsb vantage account. This account pays 4% interest if you keep between £5000 and £7000 in the account and transfer £1000 in each month. Sounds like a good idea as where else can you get tht sort of interest. After much…

Fixed Rate & Monthly Interest
Martin keeps saying 'You won't usually get monthly interest on fixed rate savings accounts'. This is nonsense! (Sorry Martin  ) But I keep seeing this statement on your Savings and Investing page and in the end just had to put the record straight. I've been investing in Fixed rate Savings Bonds for years now and…

Regular saver standing order rejected
I opened a Bradford and Bingley (Abbey) regular saver account a couple of months ago which seemed to be set up fine, and the first standing order payment went through ok in March For the second in April, however, the standing order payment was returned as rejected. My bank (First Direct) have told me that Abbey rejected it…

Children's Savings
HBOS offer a nice 6% (8% last year) for a Regular Children's saving account. When that finishes it moves into a save4it account earning a fairly low interest. Can anyone suggest an account that my children's money can be moved in so that they can re-fund the HBOS regular savings account for another year? So it needs to be…

Leap year interest
Deposit account holders with Cheshire BS should carefully check their interest calculation for any account opened after 29 February 2008. Especially if the deposit is a large one. This is because for 2008 Cheshire used 366 days for the interest calculation instead of 365 days. Fine if your account was open pre-29 February…

Fidelity fund choice and IFA commission
Hi, My IFA has advised that I invest in the Fidelity multi asset stategic fund as detailed here. http://www.fidelity.co.uk/adviser/landing_pages/masf_special_offer.html The reason for this is that there are no initial charges at the moment and that it will allow me to transfer to more adventurous funds for only .25%. That…

Swiss Key Equity Scam?!?
Hello, This is my first post, sorry to jump in at the deep end! My mum has recently invested with Swiss Key Equity, but is now suspicious of them. I'm worried it is a scam. A quick Google came up with a blog post indicating that it was indeed a scam.....a "pump and dump" one to be exact. Can anyone shed any light on this?…

Best 5 year saving plan
One of my endowment policies recently matured, giving me £15,000 ( a LOT less than I was promised 25 years ago!) I will need to save this money until 2014 when my mortgage is due to be paid off – I have a part interest only, part re-payment mortgage. I have other endowment policies, which mature in 2014, and I’m wondering…

tax on shares given to me by my employer
I work for a co-operative and we are given shares as well as wages. when we have enough shares to capitalize our job we are free to cash our old shares. I am now in that position. The shares are paid after profits so corporation tax has already been paid by the firm. They are not part of any special scheme. When I cash…

HSBC Regular Saver
From what I've seen the 10% regular saver is likely to stop for new applicants at either the start of June or the start of July. Not sure which, but from what I've seen this will be dropping to 6% from then on. I'll try to confirm dates today, but anyone who is entitled to one of these might want to consider it if they're…
