NS&I Index Linked Certificates - Move money elsewhere?
This time last year I put £15,000 into 3-year and 5-year NS&I Index-Linked Certificates which pay interest at RPI +1.35% Their online calculator says that the current value of the 3-year certificate is £15,015! A significant fall from where it was earlier in the year when RPI was high. I'm not quite sure how the value can…

Don't cash-in an NS&I Index Linked certificate mid-way between aniversaries
Don't cash-in an NS&I Index Linked certificate mid-way between aniversaries as the RPI has fallen and you'll get 0 interest, 0 growth. Maybe that's been said before but I just got bitten. The issue is that the fall in RPI has anhilated the interest component completely. If you wait till after an aniversary (or maturity)…

Savings account(s) for higher amounts
Hi all, I am looking for a savings account with instant access, or maximum of a 2 week notice period, and, quite obviously, as high a return as I can get. I have around £500,000 - £600,000 to put into no/low risk savings and would be willing to split it into a maximum of 6 different accounts, I manage my finances myself…

Georgeson
I know it's budget day, and I don't normally venture over to this forum, but please indulge me. Through Google I've ended up back here, Just got home to find an answer phone message, not a pre-recorded one with the first bit cut off, but it did sound a little bit scripted. A Canadian accented male knew my…

ICICI - Recent experiences - grateful for feedback?
I have a fixed rate account maturing shortly and am looking for a new home for the money - ICICI seem to be about the best rate at the moment. HOWEVER In 2007 I opened an ICICI HiSave account and - knowing there had been some 'adverse publicity' about ICICI at the time, made a 'test' transfer of £1. After checking almost…

Old Kaupthing Edge account, now ING with bonus rate option - interest rate?
I had a KE account which was taken over by ING. It was the one on which we were given two options of a bonus to take when it moved to ING, one of which I think was 4% variable at the time. Does anyone know the current rate on these or how I would go about finding out please? I can't find any info about this on their…

Secret Savings Rates
Apologies if this is an old story but it was news to me, so maybe others might find my experience useful. I recently visited my local cash ISA provider (Britannia Building Society) to see if they could improve on the 2 accounts I had with them – one was paying 1%, the other 1.3%. They told me that they had nothing better.…

IMF Figures incorrect?
On Newsnight last night it said that the IMF 213 billion figure for bank support was incorrect  it should have published a range of 6 - 13% of GDP 13% (213 billion) being the worst case scenario but published as the only IMF forecast. I now have a link…

Internet Fixed Rate Bond+2 Fixed Rate ISAs
After closing an income saver account which only gave me £16 this month I have £30000. I need advice on whether to put all the £30000 in the internet Fixed Year Bond, or put in £22800 in the internet bond and £7200 in two Fixed Rate ISAs (one each for my husband and myself). The amount I would save on £30000 would be the…
