I have a fixed rate account maturing shortly and am looking for a new home for the money - ICICI seem to be about the best rate at the moment.

HOWEVER

In 2007 I opened an ICICI HiSave account and - knowing there had been some 'adverse publicity' about ICICI at the time, made a 'test' transfer of £1.

After checking almost daily for two months and the money not appearing in the account, I got fed up and wrote-off the £1 !!!

It now seems they've been 'upgraded' in very recent days by Martin and other worthy organisations, so I was interested in any up-to-date experiences of their efficency in account opening and customer service ?

(By the way, I've checked today and my £1 is finally there - complete with 10p interest ... no idea at what point it arrived!)

Thanks for reading ....

EDIT:

hmm after reading another ISA thread I checked Manchester Building Society and it seems their rate is higher .... may not need ICICI after all

I've had various accounts with them since 2006 and have never had a problem - most recent transactions September, October & November 2008 - renewed Fixed Term accounts at 6.6% to 7.2% and the end of February 2009, when I withdrew the proceeds of a matured Fixed Term account.

    Steve,

This may be of interest to you if with ICICI.

I've been with them over a year and the set-up was flawless.

If I was to think of anything that is an issue to me; it would probably be that it takes 3 days to transfer my savings to my linked account, however, I know this isn't their fault.
