I know it's budget day, and I don't normally venture over to this forum, but please indulge me.

Through Google I've ended up back here,

Just got home to find an answer phone message, not a pre-recorded one with the first bit cut off, but it did sound a little bit scripted.

A Canadian accented male knew my surname and initial but not gender, identified himself as Alec Zander (?) from Georgeson calling on behalf of Valley Inco (?)

The message asked for anyone with any info to call a reverse charge number, and gave a number.
The number appears to be free and matches the first part of Georgesons Candian number.

He also left a file reference number.

From other threads the UK based Georgeson appear to deal with Standard Life and Bradford&Bingley.
I have SL shares but they are all accounted for, and my BB shares are no more, both companies have my current address and contact details.

Would anyone like to comment?

Yes, I agree, but I just thought I'd ask.

He only had 2 facts, my initial/surname and my phone number, neither exactly difficult to get hold of.

On checking, the same number has called a couple of times in the last week or so, but until today had not left a message.

Update, just been searching a bit more and found the call probably originated from a company operating under a few aliases associated with marketing/nuisance calls.

It offers services on behalf of others.
