tax on shares given to me by my employer

I work for a co-operative and we are given shares as well as wages. when we have enough shares to capitalize our job we are free to cash our old shares. I am now in that position. The shares are paid after profits so corporation tax has already been paid by the firm. They are not part of any special scheme. When I cash them do I have to pay income tax or any other tax on the money?
