NS&I Index-linked bonds
What's the general opinion on these? I've a couple that are about to mature and I was thinking of just letting them roll over into the next period, partly through laziness. I have money elsewhere in easy access accounts so I can lock it up for a while without a problem. I've retired early and am trying to live off my…

Hi there Some of you may know i have a thread on here called Practicing Share Investing (i think!).... I'm just practicing with technical analysis but i need some book recommendations (idiot guides really) - NOT on how to read charts so much as how to use stock screeners, like the one on Digital Look for example. Some ISA advise please
Last year I took out a £7200 stocks and shares ISA, putting £3600 in the new shares ISA and £3600 in an existing cash ISA. However, this year I want to do the opposite by finding and filling up a new cash £3600 ISA(which hopefully pays better interest than my existing Abbey ISA), then add £3600 into my existing shares ISA,…

Using ISA for new car
I'm probably being really stupid but...My other half wants to get a new car. He's got a good deal for a second hand octavia estate and he wants to use money in his isa to pay for it. His isa rate is 1.5% but once he's taken the money out obviously he can't replace it. The best loans appear to be about 7.8%. I'm just…

Lost cheque after Akzo Nobel bought ICI
As title, a daft relative seems to have lost the cheque after their ICI shares were bought by Akzo Nobel back in Jan 2008. Certainly, it was never presented to their bank although they have the covering letter. Anyhow, relative now had a letter from a company ProSearch, working for the Registrars Equiniti, offering to…
