Egg Money to Bank Account?

Options
Hi,

What's the quickest way to get a large positive balance on my Egg Money card back to my Nationwide bank account?

Thanks.

I sent a secure message yesterday to them with the bank, account sort code and number, and name. Couldn't find any other way to do it, but I know it's not fast - first of all they have to read the secure message, then they have to act on it.

    Anyway, that's what I did.

I'm trying to do the same. There is a facility within the Egg Money to transfer to your bank account. However I want to just move it all into my Egg Savings.

It seems stupid me moving it all to my current account and then back to Egg Savings.

I've sent them a secure message asking if I can transfer it directly.

Taken them 5 days to reply to my secure message, asking for a transfer to my current a/c. The reply said the were passing on my message to the Egg Money team and they will contact me within 72 hours :-|

Go to egg money admin, and transfer a balance.

Says it will take 10 working days, but all mine recently have been done in three.

You can do it all on-line through the admin area part of the Egg Money section on their website.

When I did that, it took two working days for the money to receive my account - twice.

That's the best way, of course- doing it for yourself.

Doesn't the Balance Transfer method only allow you to move 95% though?

After seeing that, I messaged them to ask for a BACS transfer to our current account, which they claimed was impossible. So I just got them to move it all into our Egg Savings account and withdrew it from there.

If it's a large balance, they will say they can't do it by BACS. (In my case that included relatively small amounts to a couple of accounts - but they declined all of them.) They then didn't send the alerting email to say that had responded to my request. So I was trusting them to move money which they didn't, holding on to my funds interest-free. Very shoddy.)

An example might help with the 95% limit:

If you have a credit limit on the card of £1000 then you may transfer up to £950.

The original question was about moving a positive balance off their egg money card, so...

Again, say card limit is £1000 but the card holder has a positive balance of £3000 as savings on their card account. You would add their savings and their card credit limit together which gives a potential credit available of £4000 and when you request a balance transfer online it will report you can only move 95% of your available credit which would be £3800.

However, you should never remove more than the positive amount less one pound to avoid any charges, in the above example this would be a balance transfer of £2999, leaving your card with a £1 positive balance which you can then spend on your card in normal use. This avoids your transfer putting the card into debt by effectively creating a chargeable cash withdrawal plus interest charges.

Remember to get this done before 15th May as ALL CASH TRANSFERS WILL ATTRACT A 3% CHARGE AFTER THIS DATE. Take heed, or be prepared to pay to get your own money back.

Thanks for that; strangely, the maximum figure shown as withdrawable was 95% of my positive balance only and didn't take into consideration any of my credit limit.
