Tax on savings
Apologies firstly as I am sure this has been asked before but my search facility is doing strange things! When working out net interest for a basic tax payer is it as simple as gross interest x 0.79?

Cameron to scrap taxes on savings (basic rate only)
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/7810932.stm I think this is great news for savers, considering most feel hard done by every time BOE drop the interest rate a little further.

children's easy access a/c
As a child I used to have an account with the Post Office into which I could make small pocket-money sized deposits and withdrawals. It was a brilliant way for me to learn about saving and banking, though I'm sure it used to cost the Post Office more in admin than the deposits accrued. Can anyone recommend something…

Bradford & Bingley Internet Saver 3
There is a thread about the e-Savings 3 account, and I see the newer e-Savings Issue 6 has reduced, but I can't see that the withdrawn Internet Saver 3 has also changed down from the 3.41% AER it went to in December. Maybe they are just slow about updating information on old accounts.

Annual interest savings accounts - Payments on account closure
Hi, I'm looking to open a number of instant access savings accounts to spread some money around. A lot of the top paying accounts seem to pay interest annually rather than monthly. I'm wondering if anyone has experience of closing an account paying interest annually mid term? I.e. If I want my money (to buy a house), will…

Pincipality Standing Order Details (6% Reg Svr Bond)
Hi. Anyone had their passbook yet and able to confirm standing order details (known to be correct, so used, and seen funds arrive)? Lump sum to save/invest
Have recently sold father's home and need to put his cash somewhere 'safe'. He shouldn't need to access it, thanks to decent pension paying for nursing home; at the moment it's all in one place - where is best to put house sale proceeds? At present thinking will have to break it up into several accounts. Decent interest…

Savers to be given "help" in the budget.
Government help for savers may be on the horizon: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/personalfinance/savings/4109375/Savers-to-be-given-Government-help-to-protect-against-interest-rates-cuts.html Cutting income tax on savings for pensioners and extending ISA limits seem the most likely although I think this is just…
