I was, a while back, going to open one of the Halifax's (then) 10% children's regular savers for each of my three children, but put it on hold when they started having problems. Now I see that the TSB takeover has gone through (am a TSB customer anyway, if that makes a difference), would anyone now recommend the (now) 8%…

Can you advise on the best way to invest in bank shares. They are very low rate at the moment, so I am wondering if it's a good time to invest in buying some?? I believe RBOS would be the best?? Please advise on how I go about doing this and if you think it's the right time.

Alliance and Leicester eSaver - classic bait and switch?
I signed up to eSaver Issue 2 a few months ago - they were offering about 4%. The rate has now dropped to 1%, but they are offering a product called eSaver issue 3, with a rate above 3.5%. Is this classic bait and switch? Shall I just open another eSaver (Issue 3) account or move on?

AXA Sun Life policy
Hello. A couple of years ago I had two savings policies with AXA Sun Life, which I cashed in. They have written to me today with a form to fill in confirming my details, as 'a special bonus has been declared'. Do you think that means I'm in for some sort of payout? I've looked on the AXA website but there's no information…

Halifax Savings - is there a catch ?
Hi I opened a high interest savings account in November that guaranteed 6% for 12 months provided i open a current account, pay £1000/month into it and make no more than 3 withdrawals in the year. To my delight when I asked, any further deposits in the 12 month period will also attract 6%. Given I am one of the lucky ones…

Money appeared in my account
Ten days ago I bank a £1,000 cheque in my account. The clerk must have keyed in £3,000 by mistake. I can see a little red fellow with pitchfork and little horns hovering over me and he advised me to close my account and go elsewhere. Now I am tempted to make a runner with the money. What the consequences will be? I don’t…

Any idea the best way to do this? I have substantial savings and am fed up with their continual loss of purchasing power when I go on holiday (which is about five times per year). The bottom line is the pound in our pockets has lost considerable value already. If I wanted to risk say £1-£2,000 on GBPUSD trades what be the…
