Children's savings (Halifax)

I was, a while back, going to open one of the Halifax's (then) 10% children's regular savers for each of my three children, but put it on hold when they started having problems.
Now I see that the TSB takeover has gone through (am a TSB customer anyway, if that makes a difference), would anyone now recommend the (now) 8% Halifax children's regular saver, or is there a better/safer rate on the market?
The TSB say they won't be changing any Halifax products any time soon, and I assume once a fixed rate account like this is opened, they'd have to honour it, even if they didn't allow it to go beyond the 1st anniversary.

If you have the money to put away for your children, then it's a much better rate than you'll be getting elsewhere. Definitely well worth going for.
Definitely don't worry about the safety, unless this'll take the children over £50k (lucky children!), as it's all protected in the unlikely event of a problem.
I'd be very surprised if Lloyds and Halifax merged product ranges during the coming year, as it takes ages for these places to change such massive numbers of products and customers over. But hopefully, when it does happen, they'll keep Halifax's and ditch Lloyds', as the Halifax rates are way better than LTSB!0
