The cheque trick re closing fixed term accounts......
.....I've noticed a number of banks/b soc's will not transfer funds by bacs/chaps re clousure of fixed term accounts. A number now will also not accept cheques from a bank/b soc in your name (but require their name followed by your name.) This probably leads to loss of approx. 2 weeks interest.:naughty:

Penalties for breaking 1 year fixed deposits
With interest rates dropping like a stone it makes good financial sense for those with 1 year fixed deposits expiring in the next 3/4 months to break those deposits and lock in to a current rate for a year before rates drop further as they are expected to....depending of course on the harshness or otherwise of the penalty…

Compliant against Wills & Co
I made a complaint to the Financial Ombudsman in about June of last year. My complaint was against the company Wills & Co, who I believe mis-sold me shares in a company called Trixter. I paid just over £4,410 for 30,000 in Jan 04. Having bought shares with this company before (and subsequently lost money) I knew that the…

Hi, My wife and I both have cash ISAs with very small amounts in them (a few quid) that we opened up years ago and forgot about.
