Hi I had 18000 in my mortgage offset accout but as I have a tracker I have just had a letter confirming my rate with the mortgage will be down to 3.75% from friday. I have withdraw all the funds from my offset and am looking to fix this at a rate higher than 4.7% gross (as I am a basic rate taxpayer).
I do some banking with halifax and they have a fixed rate web savers at 6.5% for 3 months or 6% for 9 months. But I want to know if there are any better deals out there? Not sure where to start looking and martin doesn't seem to have much on fixed rate savings on the main MSE site!
Help!

OK I have applied for the ICICI fixed HiSave... how long does account opening take? The initial app took my account details but didn't ask about my initial deposit...
Now that I have applied I am guaranteed that 6.6% rate right?Kavanne

Technically you are not guaranteed it, but it is unlikely that the rate will drop in the immediate future as they have already dropped it just before and again just after the recent base rate cut.
I can't remember how long it takes to open, I don't think it is especially speedy, tho'. Their rates are pretty good, but you have to grit your teeth when dealing with their customer service sometimes. Best just to sit back and let it happen.0 -
They said they will contact me within 2 working days (so by thurs I guess) after they've verified my details... still not asked for a deposit amount though...Kavanne
