How do I know what type of HSBC current account I have?

Yes, I know it sounds like a stupid question! I see that HSBC have a regular savings account available at 8% for those with a "Current Account Advance Account" amongst other types. Well I seem to remember a little while ago receiving some sort of letter from HSBC telling me that they were upgrading my account to something like that. However, I can't remember if they said they are going to or they have done. I've had a look tonight on the net but I can't see that my account tells me if it has been "upgraded" or not. How can I tell? I know I could just ring and try to apply for the account but I didn't want to suffer the indignity of refusal if I actually have a "bog standard" account! :rotfl:

Probably not the best board for this question, but I think I happen to know the answer. I'm pretty sure they are all being changed over as of 1st Dec 08. I'm pretty sure that the account name on online banking will change to reflect any "upgrade/downgrade" on that date.MFW #66 - £4800 target0

You will probably find an answer in this thread in the Budgeting & Current Accounts forum.0

Mine is a current account advance, on the online banking it shows as 'ADVANCE A/C'. I believe you have to ring up to change to this account, thats what I did anyway. They were very helpful, set it all up on the phone - including the 8% regular saver account and direct debit. Very pleased with the service! Hope this helps.0
