IFA deemed "not a fit and proper person" by FSA. Is it bad?
I have seeked advice from an independent financial advisor concerning buying life insurance and a pension plan. I have now discovered that this person was deemed "not a fit and proper person" in a final notice of the Financial Service Authority, in relation to a previous business she was running. How serious is this?…

Ways into China
Not an investment recommendation, but just a point of information for anyone who has already decided to get exposure to the Dragon. FT ".....buying Chinese shares directly is not a realistic option for UK-based investors. Indeed, even professional fund managers who want to invest in China have to be creative to get around…

Premium Bond new "interest" rate
I can't see any mention on here of this yet. The "interest" rate for Premium Bonds has been increased from 3.15% to 3.55% with effect from the next draw. This is a significantly greater increase than the BoE base rate increase - thus reversing some of the recent decline in competitivity of PBs. They are now worth…

Looking to save £55k into one account, which account would you recommend? I want instant access so I'm looking at ICICI's 5.45% which looks attractive, feedback now looks good for them too. Currently with ING and time to move as they are only paying 4.75%, which i can't understand as not competitive.

I just received a letter telling me my regular saver will mature and it looks like as I have no other active saving accounts at HSBC my regular payment and the amount that's in it will be converted to HSBC's flexible saver. ING to ICESAVE; Whats the quickest way to move money?
I am about to move funds from poorly performing ING to ICESAVE, but want to minimise the number of lost interest days. Assuming each take 3 days (ie; ING to linked current acc then linked c/a to ICESAVE) and throw in 2 days for the weekend, thats a total of EIGHT days, or about £40 interest lost on my £40K. Is there a…

Best Notice Savings?
My husband and I have decided to move house in 2008. The type of house we would like are currently around the £135k mark but we envisage them being around the £150k mark when we want to move. Our house currently has equity of around £15k in it so we would like to match this to either put down a bigger deposit or to have…
