Have had an account with Portman for about 8 years (opened as Carpet bagging account, but still waiting) balance about £500. Members' Rollover Bond due to renew in July is offering only 4.0% - fixed for 1 year on balances under £2,500 (5% on £2,500+). Doesn't look too attractive, but is it worth losing Carpet bagging…

(I wouldn't even be considering this, obviously, if I were not related…

How do banks make money on savings?
Always wondered how banks actually make money from savings accounts? I understand that it is linked to the bank of England Base Rate and that anything paying above this is usually making a loss and this is why the best deals paying above 4.5% tend to be short lived. If my account is paying over 4.5% Gross is it likley that…

Therefore great to transfer a large balance, upto £12000 in a year. This also means that more of your money is at the higher rate for…

Share Options/ISA/Tax??
Can anyone tell me the tax implications of putting some of the shares which I execute from a company share option scheme straight into an ISA. Will I save myself Income tax/CGT or will the profit I make on the shares be taxed when I finally sell? I'm single and a higher rate tax payer.
