PORTMAN Members' Rollover Bond

Have had an account with Portman for about 8 years (opened as Carpet bagging account, but still waiting) balance about £500. Members' Rollover Bond due to renew in July is offering only 4.0% - fixed for 1 year on balances under £2,500 (5% on £2,500+). Doesn't look too attractive, but is it worth losing Carpet bagging opportunity? (No other accounts with Portman offer anything better for under £1,000) Or does this imply Portman are trying to lose customers with low balances....?

What's the minimum investment? can you cut you losses by just investing £100 (which should be enough to maintain your membership rights in the event of demutualisation)Midas.0

Thanks Midas
Unfortunately, minumum for Bond is £500. Only other Portman a/c with reasonable rate, 5% variable requires min £1,000 and 90 day notice. Balances less than £1,000 in other a/c gets a derisory 0.7%.0
