What do you think of tracker funds?
Good morning. To pick up on a point raised in another thread (Is this a viable plan?), what are your views on tracker funds as an option for someone like myself who basically wants a "buy-and-forget" investment product? I want to invest about £200 a month over the next 20 years or so. I don't intend to touch the money…

Equity ISA: pro?
Hello, while the tax year end is coming to a close I am thinking to invest 4000£ on an equity mini ISA of some sort. While I have not done this investment in the past, I have no fear with risk at such (low) levels and would like to experiment a bit. Before analysing specific products I would like to get a summary of…

Small Sum Long Term Investment
Hi all, On many occasions i have been tempted by stocks and shares, and after reading some superb articles in newspaper articles about spectacular growth across the globe, i wouldn't mind a part of the action. I am after a balanced fund, so not to risk all in one market. However i do not have a great sum to invest; i would…

Loose change - banking in for savings
Sorry, this question might be a bit stupid but this issue is confusing me. You know the money bags you get from the bank? Well on the front there is instructions printed stating "£5 in 10p or 5p £1 in 2p or 1p" ....You get the idea. What I want to know, is do the bags have to have that amount in them before they can be…

Fund Prices
Hi, Does anyone know of a good source why I can find daily OEIC prices, and preferably charts as well? I'm struggling to find anywhere decent. Best I have found is http://www.trustnet.com/, but they don't include every fund. Thanks

Opening ISAs rules...
Hi I opened a cash mini ISA with Smile around five years ago. I paid some money into it earlier this tax year but haven't yet used up my £3K allowance. I noticed that Alliance & Leicester are offering a better rate so I decided to go with them and have just opened up an account with them with the intention of transferring…

Mini Isa
If I were to invest in one now bearing in mind the tax year ends next month - when would I receive the benefits of doing this ? I will only have this money to invest for a couple of months as buying a property but am thinking I might be able to make a few quid beforehand ?

Savings or mortgage overpayments?
Now I think this is a really silly question, but this is my first post so be nice... We're about to buy a house. Currently we have a bit more disposable income than our mortgage payments will be so we were planning to overpay regularly. Surely if we can get a better interest rate on savings than we are paying on our…

Recommended Investment Websites?
Hi all Is there a particular website that those in the know would recommend? At the moment I'm trawling through HL, Fidelity, Trustnet, MF, FT.com, MSE (natch), plus the sunday papers websites, which is all fairly time-consuming (I know it goes with the territory). I just wondered if you guys who are well into this use…

Where to save if you really don't care about Interest Rates?
Hi, I've decided I'm going to do some proper saving just £100 from my wages plus everything I earn from eBay and so on. Would you say an ISA is the correct way to go? I don't care about interest tates (due to religious reasons) so would prefer saving that offered convenience or lower "fees" and fines.

Standard Life
I have been investing for about 5 years with Standard Life - and now realise that I should have gone through Fidelity or other such fund supermarkets by reading this site (why did I not discover it earlier). I don't wish to sell the ISA I have with SL - and appear unable to move it due to the funds I have. I am happy just…

Comments please on my possible investment
I am looking into starting an investment with fidelity. The investment is aimed at about 10 years - at about £400 per month - into an ISA starting in April. I will probably just leave it once I start the investment - don't have enough time or interest to monitor it too often - maybe have a look once every few month on how…

Is this a viable plan?
Morning all. I've been lurking on these boards for a while and have finally decided to take the plunge. Here's my situation. I've been living in France for a few years and hope to stay here until I retire (in about 20 years' time), at which point we will almost certainly return to the UK. The organisation I work for offers…
