Bikes on Virgin Trains
Anyone thinking of taking a pushbike onto a Virgin Train, be aware that you seem to need a booking. Certainly at the big stations (eg New Street, Euston) their staff will ask to see a reservation before allowing you to board with a bike; whether they have enough bodies to police this at samller stations I don't know. The…

Missing cheap trains
Over the last few days I was looking for advance tickets from Bristol to Brighton viewing on a number of websites. I booked on Thursday, but on that day only one of the websites showed the cheaper tickets. This was trainline, which also charged a booking fee. So what happened to the cheaper fares on the other websites?

Another season ticket loophole or not?
I need to get an annual season ticket from Tonbridge to London. Searching for a season ticket on the South Eastern website using a standard "from - Tonbridge Station, To - London (All)" brings back a cost of £3,980 for a yearly ticket. However if I keep the "from" station as Tonbridge, and put in the "To" station as…

Which rear cassette for my bike?!
I've selected a new chain and chain-rings for my mountain bike, but I can't even begin to choose amongst the huge range of rear cassettes that are available! The one I've got has been fine, although I quickly snapped a tooth of it and it wore down fairly quickly, so I'd pay a bit extra for something hard-wearing. Weight…
