Moving linebox and adding extension, how much?
Not long had my line installed. I wasn't here when it went in, but I told who was looking after the place for me where I wanted the linebox, and the engineer installed it there. The linepole is on the back side of the flat, so the wire comes in through the kitchen window frame (why not straight into the attic I don't…

BT.COM redcare service!
Could some one explain the following as i have not a clue what it means. Redcare is a specialised BT alarm system that contacts the emergency services using a telephone line based signal. Charged for callls to sexchat - not guilty!
Our monthly phone bill doubled and it's because of two calls we allegedly made to a premium rate number. We dialled the number for a couple of seconds and it's one of those sex chatlines. The calls were made at around 2.30 AM on a night when we were both in and I assure you we don't have mischievous teenagers or lodgers.…

Talktalk Computer Fault Overcharging
My bill contains charges for calls to other Talktalk customers. I am advised that this is a computer error, however, unless the customers contact Talktalk for a refund none will be made. So all Talktalk customers, I suggest that you check your bill and take the appropriate action. It is also necessary to check whether your…

1pminute phone calls for this week
The email sent to us giving the access number for the above company for the cheap landline to mobile calls for this week is wrong. According to 1pminute's website that access number is for landlines only. The correct number is 0844 452 7030 and you then add to dial 0044 7 and the rest of the mobile number as you need to…

Best value calls _to_ the UK from South Africa?
I love the International Call Checker and use it often when calling overseas. My question is about the other way round - calling back to the UK when you're abroad. Specifically from South Africa. I'll be there in Dec. Is there something general on the MSE site about this? I haven't been able to find anything (but this is…

Free evening calls to the Channel Islands?
I notice that both BT's and Sky Talk's free evening and weekend calls to UK landlines exclude calls to the Channel Islands, which is somewhat annoying as the number I ring the most is out there. Does anyone know of a tariff which gives the free evening and weekend calls to UK landlines, including the Channel Islands? Its…

Major problems with BT. Advice please?
God, this is quite long-winded and complex so apologies in advance for the long post........ I've been a BT customer since 2001, but the account was always in my brothers name. Anyway, my brother moved out in August last year so I contacted BT. I told them to cancel the broadband as my brother had taken his computer with…

Student having major problems trying to get BT to connect phone line
Firstly, I’m sorry this is such a long post but it is an ongoing saga with the morons at BT I'm posting on behalf of my son who is a university student. Just started his second year and moved in to a house with 3 friends. There is a BT line which is not active, there is a dialling tone but if he tries actually dialling a…

Line rental -why BT may be better
I have a contract with Pipex. They claim that the equipment outside my house belongs to me because it is connected to my property. On this basis they will charge (£65) to come to refix the line to the house (it is in danger of coming off becasue the old terminal bracket is falling away). I asked where this is made clear in…

Virgin Media - CHECK YOUR BILL!
Hi, I've recently received my latest bill from Virgin Media and instead of leaving it on the side, I opened it and was concerned with the fact it was approx. £10 more than usual. I called Customer Services who informed me the 'system' decided I had too many discounts so removed one - of course, the one they removed was the…
