State Pension Question
Does anyone know if you can still work if you are in reciept of the state pension? My mum turned 60 in Aug, and has the possibilty of some (very) casual work. Looking at about 2 - 6 hours a month - even that is not guaranteed. Is there a limit she can earn without it affecting her pension? Any advice would be very much…

Making a will?
This is my first post so please forgive me if i have put it in the wrong section or something Anyway my question is MAKING A WILL. In the past we used a company that draws a will up for you and stores it. This was many years ago and the company we used has slipped in to oblivion may be 6 years ago and have not heard from…

Am I being unreasonable?
I asked our company’s pension financial administrators to tell me the charges on my AVC, since they are never listed in our yearly statements. This was back in early July and I’ve heard nothing since. I would have thought two months was more than enough time for them to work this out – or am I being unreasonable? Also, I’m…

First £30,000 is tax free. I think this is generous and can't wait for the dosh! How does this compare with other packages people have…

I am not sure if this the right place for asking this question but here goes: I could not find relevant answers to my query. My employers are making redundancies and I don't have much time to decide. My Husband is 55 yrs old and would like to retire in 2 years time. We are about to pay off our mortgage with a lump sum that I have recently received due to ill health retirement. EPP transfer to SIPP
Around 1998 I started a company, and decided to start a pension. My newly aquired IFA at the infamous City Financial Partners, sold me a Lincoln EPP, which seemed like a good idea at the time. I stopped trading through this company a few years ago, so the fund is now 'paid up'. It's worth around £10k, with a transfer value…

pension contributions?
hi, I am self-employed and have been putting lump sums into different pension funds each year with different companies all in with-profits funds which have not been doing wonderfully. I have £9000 to put in for this year and was going to use one of Martin's discount brokers until I read the threads. I have been distrustful…

Savings v Pensions
I don't know very much about pensions, but know some people save instead of getting one. Me and bf have never had a pension, but I have a plan for when we have paid off the mortgage (35 year term, but overpaying at the moment to knock it down to 26 years, and hopefully will start knocking even more off soon). Once it's…

Non-contributory pension
OK, here we go... For the last three and half years I have had my pension contributions paid (Final Salary scheme). Recently work announced we would be given the 'option' to carry on with this but via salary sacrifice (why do they call it this, it sounds so negative) or move to a fund manager scheme were I believe the risk…

Pension v No Pension
I really need some good advice! I am almost 61 and began working as a teacher 22 months ago after raising my children. Currently I am paying just over £100 a month into the teachers' pension - I work fulltime in a state school. Because of my lone-parenting responsibilities, my previous employment has been negligible. The…
