Does anyone know if you can still work if you are in reciept of the state pension?
My mum turned 60 in Aug, and has the possibilty of some (very) casual work.
Looking at about 2 - 6 hours a month - even that is not guaranteed.
Is there a limit she can earn without it affecting her pension?
Any advice would be very much appreciated.

Yes, you can work as many hours as you have the opportunity to and it doesn't affect your state pension at all. I should know - I worked up to age 67.
What it does mean, of course, is that your total income is taxable, but a few hours a month? I wouldn't have thought that would cause her much hardship.

No problem - she can work as much as she likes. The state pension is an entitlement, not a benefit.
Of course it's part of her taxable income, so she needs to take that into account. Usual personal allowance is available at age 60 (it goes up at age 65) but she doesn't have to pay NI.Trying to keep it simple...0 -
Remember that if you claim pension credit then the employed income may be taken in to account - you may need to look at that side of things.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0
