Teacher's Pensions

Hi everyone

I will be leaving the country very soon to emigrate and I shall not be returning to Britain. I would like to cash-in my teacher's pension to start me off in my new life but they tell me that I cannot do this until I retire. I retire in about 30 years.

Does anyone know of any way that I can cash in my contributions?

No, no and no! It's a pension you can't do this.

Not 100% sure if I'm correct but I think you can cash in your contributions, 6 years ago after leaving education for a spell I cashed in my pension and recieved a lump sum as the value of any pension was little but the money paid in was more. Get on to https://www.teacherspensions.co.uk for info.

You can usually cash an occupational pension in if you have been working at the company for less than 2 years IIRC, but you won't normally get back the company contributions and they will also often have to deduct money to put you back into the second state pension scheme.This doesn't apply to GPP schemes, which are not occupational pensions.
